Question for those of you with children.
I've got 2 young flower girls who will be 6 and 7 at the time of my wedding.
The flower girl dresses I want have to be ordered by the end of January according to the shop.
I have little to no experience with kids and previously have been one of those people who has done her utmost to avoid interacting with any child for any reason!
My wedding is 1st September this year

So question is how much are they likely to grow in that time? When I order the dresses in this month should I order a size bigger just in case? Are they likely to just grow upwards? Or will it likely be outwards too?
The dresses are mid calf length but i don't mind if they end up knee length infact I think I'd prefer it at knee length for them.

EDIT- changed the category to fit the correct one

When I ordered mine, I got them ever so slightly larger, not massively, that way if they did not fit it would be easier to take in rather than out

And you could always have them altered to be knee length.

I would get a size larger as it would be easy for someone good at sewing to put in a dart or two to take them if needed. Taking anything out is much harder if they were too small x

I'd go to a size larger.

My niece had her dress ordered in January for our wedding in May, there was a little bit of room and on the day fitted her perfectly, no alterations needed. I have been told by others who have kids that they always seem to have a growth spurt over the summer months and when they go on holiday so definitely over 8 months and being after the summer hols I'd order an age size up from what they are now.

Always easier to alter in than to take out.

I started making mine last year for our wedding in July. I made them an age bigger than what the kids were and left the length too long so I could hem them closer to the wedding date. Mine are button too so hoping they'll be ok but if they are too big then I'll take them in. If you get there measurements done now and see what age they fit into and then add an inch or so into it x

My Niece was 2 when we got married and my Sister bought her flower girl dress a couple of months before the wedding

Charlotte, these dresses take 6 months to order so buying a couple of weeks in advance really won't work
