Hey , just wondering if anyone out there is doing what they call a first look ? so a hour or 2 before the ceremony , the bride and groom meet up alone and see each other for the first time and have photos done then , so after the ceremony you don't have to leave everyone , can enjoy being with everyone having canapes and drinks e.t.c Plus you wont be all nervous walking down the aisle as you have seen each other already, so means more relaxed. I have read quite a few wedding articles where people have done it, most brides in America do it, something like 75% do. I had never heard of it before recently. Thinking about doing it :) I like the idea or being more relaxed at ceremony, think I'm more likely remember it all the more relaxed I am and like the idea of hanging out with everyone enjoying the canapes too :)

I would consider it, but we are getting married at half 12 so quite an early ceremony.
Another thing I have heard, which I thought was lovely... was a couple who got married with just their parents there first thing in the morning at the registry office, then they went their separate ways got ready and went to their venue, where they had a ceremony in front of all their friends and family (they didn't have to have a registrar there as the legal bit was done and they had the ceremony exactly how they wanted it because again, the legal bit was already done.) I thought that was another lovely idea, which I would have considered if we weren't having a Church wedding anyway.

I think I'm more inclined to stick to the traditional way and not see OH until I walk down the aisle.... There is nothing wrong with the 'first look' approach but for me, seeing the look on his face is more important. I can understand the wanting to be more relaxed though

I'm not going to do it either my oh likes to wind me up every chance he gets so not giving him the opportunity, and for me the look on his face when he sees me walking down the aisle will be priceless in front of everyone, however I do think the first look idea fits in perfectly with your wedding plans xx

yes I know what you mean, think maybe I do want that nervous excitedness when walk down... its going to fairly relaxed already with everyone already being at venue for the night before.. think I will ask the H2B and see what he thinks of idea, if anyone on here does do it would love to hear from you .. isn't it exciting thinking about walking down the aisle !! :) x

I don't know how I feel about walking down the aisle. I feel a little sick, haha-hopefully I won't feel too sick on the day ;)
I'm sure I'll be fine though, probably end up shaking... but hopefully not too noticeable. Very exciting though, I cannot wait.
CommentAuthorEmmaG
Yes you will be fine, have a glass of cava to stop the shakes beforehand..ha.. or if you do get nearer the date and still feel like that I can highly recommend Flower remedy.. take a few drops and it really does help in these sort or situs x

I have read about his first look moment. But I really want to see his face when I walk down the aisle, and see his surprise face or whatever lol I think it can be lovely to calm down your nerves. I've also seen something about meeting before the ceremony without seeing each other. Having a door between the groom and the bride... and just holding hands <3 So cute lol

We never done this, hubby even kept looking forward until I was beside him, he said he did not want to look around, wanted to wait until I was by his side.

I wouldn't want to do that.. would wipe away all the excitement for me. I don't want him to see me until I am walking down the aisle :) would kind of be a bit of an ant-climax for me I think x

I saw 4 weddings once and they done it on there. The other three brides were gobsmacked that they were having pics done before the wedding.

It's a good idea if you want to keep it as nerve/stree free as you can, however I'm certainly too excited to see OHs face and the reactions that it will keep me focused on getting down the aisle ha! I think it would take away from the ceremony if he saw me first.

I'm more than a bit terrified of walking down the aisle but I think I'd want to see the look on OH's face when I do. Mostly because he won't be used to seeing me dressed up to the nines because I'm such a tomboy and live in jeans and hoodies. Every bride is different though, so I say go for it if you want to Emma :o)
