Ahh you poor thing, i hope all goes well at the drs, maybe if it is due to the damp they could get involved with getting you rehomed, especially as there are children involved. . .Chin up chick, you have a wedding to look forward to. Xxx

I empathise completely with you as I have RA. My mum used to call me a human barrometer as i knew about 3 days before we got bad weather due to my joints stiffening and becoming more painful! I'm also hugely effected by the damp - even if I'm in my toasty flat, i'll feel the damp outside.
It's funny as I've been in remission for months but yesterday I was laid up on the sofa and I'm on painkillers still - naproxen. I've been on immune supressants for about 3 years now which has helped hugely.
Are you under the care of a rheumatologist at your local hospital? If not, ask to be referred by your GP - you're entitled to this. They are experts and know the latest research and medications available and will give you a thorough assessment. It may take a while to get you on the right meds for you (and be warned, some of them have horrible side effects - I went orange, my hair fell out and I got such bad nausea that I didn't eat for almost 2 months! - not on that one now) but go with it. It's the best thing I ever did. I never thought I'd walk again, and here I am, cycling, playing badminton and leading an active lifestyle now.
Hope you get it sorted x

Glad that you've got that appointment. Have they said what type of arthritis it is? That can be a tricky one. Although I've been finally diagnosed with RA, it's been a long journey. I'm a rare case and have no rheumatoid factor in my blood (only 80% of people with RA do though) but due to my other symptoms, they have diagnosed RA, albeit sero negative RA. I'm on plaquanil (hydroxychloraquine) now, but they put me on sulphasalazine for 2 months and that was horrible.
Don't hesitate in PM'ing me if you want to talk. I've been where you are and you need all the support you can get. Your H2B sounds wonderful, btw! It's so important that your partner is supportive and understanding x

Any time. Not having a firm diagnosis drove me bonkers! It was especially difficult as I was trying to put in a claim to Access to Work at the time to get voice recognition software for my work PC and a special chair. But without a diagnosis, it makes it very hard! Fortunately, I had a lot of support from my consultant and manager as well as the Senior Management at my workplace and with constant pushing, we got it through.
Yesh, not having the rheumatoid factor show up causes problems. They're not keen on diagnosing RA without it, but it makes no sense to me as it only happens in 80% of cases anyway!
    Keep me posted x

all those tablets you mentioned can be taken at the same time, they are all in different groups of pain killers - paracetamol no more than 4g per day evenly spaced (about 4-6 hourly) - ibruprofen 3 times per day (about 8 hourly) - diazepam is a muscle relaxant (not sure of the dosage for that one but GP should have told you). Codeine - opiate based pain killer great for constipating you as well as taking pain away 30 - 60 mg 4 times daily can be taken with paracetamol.

With pain killers you need to take them regularly so your not seesawing with pain, it is much harder to control like that, don't wait to feel the pain before you take em. Make sure you eat before you take tablets too - tummy's don't like tablets :)

Best of luck with getting it sorted :)

    I'm now a married woman

try taking them alternately so take paracetamol and codeine and then 2/3 hours later take ibuprofen and then 2/3 hours later the paracetamol& codeine that way you want be going so long between them.............its ibuprofen you shouldnt take on an empty stomach -but just grabbing a piece of fruit before you take it will be fine you dont need to wait until your having a full meal.

Gabapentin is great and worth asking for Abi and it is a flexible drug so you can take less one day and more the next dependant on how you are feeling. It has really worked for me. Also it is possible that your chest pains may be costochondritis if it is centred around the rib area as it inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join the cartilage. I get it now and again and can be very painful. Good luck when you see your dr next. xx
