hiya ladies! I have been to quite a few wedding evenings lately, although these people are my nearest and dearest, I feel that the evening tends to get neglected. A lot of money is spent on the day and making sure napkins and table centres are correct etc etc but time the evening comes all that has gone and the evening guests dont actually get to see much of the wedding.

My fiance and I were looking at booking casino tables (we love fun gambling) and thought it would be something nice to get the evening guests involved with and have a bit of fun, instead of sitting awkwardly at a table chatting to each other wondering who is who.

I was wondering what you planning for evening entertainment for your guests?

it just made me think because a wedding evening i attended weekend just gone, the dj played and NOBODY danced... it just felt a little weird, and got me thinking.

We have a photo booth (which we LOVE) and our sweet cart is being opened at night. Plus my friends and I dance alot, so every wedding i seem to go to i end up dancing all night! I think it depends how in tune the DJ is with the croud!

Casino sounds like a good idea. Yeah dj wise you need to make sure you get a decent person, someone who will interact and play tunes everyone will love. If theyre a good dj, theyll know how to get people on their feet x

I would have loved a casino but and uncle has a bit of a problem so we thought it was insensitive to tempt him (fun or not). We opted for a magition earlier in the day instead.

this dj was AMAZING.. i was itching to dance lol... the point of this post was i was just wondering what entertainment people were having for the evening.

I love the idea of a photobooth! they are fab, we initally wanted a photobooth but it is the same price as the casino tables.

sweet carts always go down well!!

Weve not really thought too much about evening entertainment just yet. I went to loads of weddings last year and everyone only really had the djs too. One couple had a band on who were really good and then fireworks afterwards. Im going to have a chocolate fountain on the day, but think im going to open it in the evening so that everyone can have some.

Another friend had a photobooth and everyone loved it. Im thinking maybe get a large photoframe and props and have a diy photoframe cos i dont want to copy off my friends wedding! X

    Yeah i love sweet carts :) x

We are having a photobooth chocolate fountain & pick and mix stand but thats all for the evening anyway. Having garden games outside amd wanting (if hubby gets a job) a magician at some point. Will ask the dj if he can do a kids half hour as they love to be involved xx

The evening is VERY important to us; just as important as the day. We're doing the following:

Showing of photos from the day in our private cinema from 7-7.30pm; evening guests are welcome to pop in (evening 'do starts at 7.30pm)

Cake-cutting and first dance (not entertainment, but I feel it's important for the evening guests to feel included)

Signing frame (and may do something 'fun' like a memory box too)

    Evening buffet (obv)

Band from the first dance through til 11pm

    DJ from 11pm-1am-ish

Music streamed through iPod from 1am-finish

We're also bringing a big hamper of crazy hats, as it's a bit of a tradition at our parties (we have a big collection, and come about 11pm when people are getting well on their way to tipsy, most people start wearing them lol), and might consider asking one of our photographers to do a 'photo booth' for 1/2 hour or so.

That's it; we don't have space for anything else, and for us, in our experience, the music is what makes or breaks a good party. It will probably take us weeks to organise play-lists for the band and DJ as they will be tailored to our guests to ensure there are no real breaks in the dancing.

Really struggling for ideas on entertainment for our musical theme wedding. I have enquired about having a live band at our venue but they say the room isnt really big enough, we have already paid a deposit ect so can't move to a bigger venue, plus the price was right.
Anyway I am now pulling out my hair trying to think of other things that could go with the theme, and keep our guests entertained, any ideas are welcome please.

We have our dj who is included with our package. We'll be asking our guests from both day and evening for their two favourite songs so we can make sure everyone is up and dancing to at least 1 or 2 songs, (my mums side of the family are dancing people). And we have a photobooth booked from 7-11, our reception does finish at 11:30 though. We also have our sweetie table and considered some lawn games for children if the weather is nice enough.

Evening is important to us as the last wedding we went to in December was a tad boring and we left at about 9:30. We did want an adult bouncy castle but our venue asks that outside inflatables are deflated by 8:30 so there was no point having it x

We went to a wedding Fair on Sunday and came across a wedding entertainer who we may have fell in love with just a little bit lol
We went looking for two things entertainment and cakes and found both and so much more lol

ANNNNYWAY this guy apart from being a DJ in the evening does music through out the day, little games involving the guests, leaves cards on the table for people to fill in, brings things for the kids to do, does a mini kid disco and can even be a toast master if you wish! So he's there basically there from the start of your day right to the end!

    Entertainment SORTED ;-)

We were hoping in getting a live band, just to make it so much more fun and loud! Actual entertainment wise, I haven't really thought about it, I'm not sure if H2B has any ideas. x

I went to a friends wedding in the summer and it was a bit quiet on the night so we are having a band, I also have asked my daughter to have a kids corner with games and my neice to set up a DIY photobooth in the hall. We are using a app to allow photosharing so I might ask the hotel it we can have a slide show of pictures of the day so that those only coming to the evening can see some of the day too.
