    Hi ladies.
I don't really see the point of an engagement photo shoot. Is it worth the money or just another waste of time to drag money out of the "wedding " word?
I keep seeing with venues were visiting that they offer a free photo shoot but not sure if it's actualt worth the bother and if it is am I better paying for it to be done properly

Some have things like this included in the package. We had a pre wedding photo shoot, just so the photographer could get used to photographing us and for us to be photographed, even though she was our friend.

If you're getting it for free I would do it.. what have you got to lose?

We never bothered. We'd already been engaged over 2 years before we even booked our venue, so we'd lost the "newly engaged sparkle" and couldn't get excited about an engagement shoot. We will have been engaged for almost 4 and a half years by the time we actually get married. X

We have the same feeling flossy. We have been engaged for a year so it's sort of. What's the point and they are offering it at venues we won't be going with which seems a little rude when we wonly be using the venue. At least I know why they offer them. To get you used to the photographer:) thanks

If you take a venue up on the offer of a free engagement shoot, are you obliged to use their photographer for the wedding? You might not want to use a venue's photographer anyway and find your own. X

We have our photographer already and not for most of them. I think they are more an advertisement for the photographer not a contractual agreement to use them

I had mine in December, it was included in our photography package but after having it I think I would of paid for it anyway. It was so much fun and me and OH felt so awkward at first but then we started to relax and felt comfortable in front of the camera, we now feel so much more relaxed about having photos taken on our wedding day. It's a good way to get to know your photographer before the wedding and now we have some lovely photos of the two of us. I would recommend having one but it's totally up to you x

Me and OH already have some nice photos of us as my dad is a photographer himself and took some lovely ones a few years back.. to be fair we have been thinking about asking him to do a pre-wedding shoot of some sort, just so we have some more up-to-date pics of us both that aren't the wedding pics.

It is nice to have some lovely pics of the two of you, but like you say, I think I would feel awkward using a photographer for a free engagement shoot, knowing that I wasn't going to book with them anyway.

Does the photographer you have chosen not offer anything like that? Might be worth asking the question so you don't miss out x

We get a pre-wedding shoot included in our photography package. Our photographer will use one of the photos for a signing board so we don't need to buy a guestbook. We are having it done in June which is a year after getting engaged and a year until our wedding :)

We considered it but we found that the actual shoot was free but then any photo's you want to have you then have to pay for....and that's where they got you with cost. We would want to buy them all haha. But if it's all part of a package id say go for it, my H2B and I are fairly shy so having our wedding ones done may be nerve racking lol

The signing board sounds lovely. I've been trying to think of different things to do than a guest book!

And ooo that sounds expensive! Will look out for that. I'm worried about the wedding pics too I want them but hate being photographed! Nerve racking

Maybe they shouldn't call it an engagement shoot, more like a pre - wedding shoot? Xx

We get one included in our package so going to wait for spring/summer and go to our favourite place, Edale Peak District and gave them done there. Our photographers see it as a day out and are happy to travel with no extra costs. Like KatieD has said, they will use it for the signing board. I'm looking forward to it and having some proper photographs on our favourite location isn't going to happen again.
I'm very camera shy and don't take a good photo so it would be nice to get used to being photographed

I think it would be nice to have some proper pics of the 2 of us too. We don't have many of us. Does depend on cost.
