Photography is obviously a major part of the wedding the photos have to look good but every one i have looked at starting prices were over 2000! Am i wrong for thinking thats a bit much...
Like i thought ahh i will budget about 1000-1300 more then enough. NOPETY NOPE
Has anyone got any tips for not blowing the budget out of the window but still getting really nice pics...
sorry about the ... by the way im on a french keyboard as at the OH house and i have no idea where the question mark is XD

Ours was £1500 for a full day coverage from getting ready until 30 minutes after the first dance. Included an engagement shoot with a print from it, a huge official album, 2 parents albums and 4 mini albums, all prints on CD and also DVD set to music of our choice. Plus thank you cards with one of the pictures.
He was one of the more expensive photographers so there are more affordable ones out there.

Yeah I agree that seems steep you were about on par with £1000-£1500 expectation
CommentAuthorEmily17
That's very steep. most that we saw were £1000 - £1500 but got ours for £650 for all day from bridal prep to after first dance. He is great and are so happy with him. That's just for one album but you can upgrade the package for more if you like (we probably will after the wedding)
More than happy to give you his details. He is midlands based but will travel all over the country
Met in 2009
He proposed Jan 2014
Will become Mrs P 7th October 2017

Yeah I'm paying £800 on mates rates with mine and getting an Italian style coffee table style album that has a thick acrylic cover.
He's doing full day cover but we know his partner who is an amateur photographer (who we initially asked) and she said she'll come and take photos too so they'll probably stay all night as we are hoping to do a light up balloon release photo when it starts to get dark after the first dance :)

Mine is £100 with all the pictures on a usb stick. Have a look at local colleges, see if any photography students would be up for a little professional work. Tell them they can add it to their portfolio at the end of it. We have a student. :-)

That is Very steep! Really shop around that's what we did. We only payed £800 for the whole day (bridal prep to 1st dance). We have got a c.d with over 500 images on it and we are also getting a photo book. Where about are you? Maby try a local university see if any photography students want some work that should work out cheaper but it's a slight risk. Xx

£2000 is alot! Ours is £1400 and we are just on London/Kent border- the largest quote we got was just over £1800 so i'm sure you'll find cheaper if you shop around x

That's a lot of money! Ours was £895 for the whole day (getting ready to first dance, father daughter dance and early evening) and he did an absolutely fantastic job. We got a usb stick and a small selection of photos printed out in a little box. He also put a little slide show on when he put our photos on his website. He knocked £100 off as he was recommended by a friend. Some of the others we looked at were quoting around £995.

I'm in the Cambridge are too and found prices crazy too! The people I saw were between £900 and £1500. Happy to let you know the ones I met and who i'm going with...but not sure how to...! The lady we are going with lives in Ely and is just under £1000 for bridal prep to evening and all images on a private gallery and usb

We have paid £1750 for all day, 2 photographers, DVD, USB, several albums, engagement shoot and they film our day too.
We are in Nottinghamshire
People think we are paying too much but honestly, you pay what you can afford.
£2000 + is rather steep. I'm sure if you looked at wedding fairs perhaps you may find someone cheaper

Our photographer is £550 for all day coverage including all the photos and a dvd plus editing which I thought was fantastic.

I guess it all depends on what sort of photography you are after, as they all vary in style and price. Find a style you like, and then visit wedding fairs where you know they will be, as they usually offer deals if you book with them from meeting them that day. I personally prefer fine art photography, and unfortunately I appear to have expensive taste, as the one I liked the most started at £2000 for 8 hours, and I don't think any albums or anything were included in that price! Good luck! X

We got ours for £850 using the QuoteMe tool on here. That was for a coffee table album, two smaller albums for parents, a CD ROM of the images, small cards to put on the tables at the reception with details of the website for guests to see the images, a pre-wedding shoot, and all day coverage with two photographers from me getting ready to after the first dance. He was really sweet, and afterwards gave us a calendar as well using photos he'd taken for each month, and several pocket albums which were normally only part of the package above the one that we selected (we went for gold and the next one was platinum). He also put a huge amount of effort into the album, including coming round to us with his laptop so that he could edit the album the way we wanted. I found that the ones at the wedding fairs were typically charging around £1500, so it's definitely worth shopping around for better deals. The other way to keep costs down is to have a digital only package, where you get the photos just on disc, and than you can look at getting an album made later on when you can afford it.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Ours was £1400 for bridal prep to just after first dance and was worth every penny. He stayed much much later than he was meant to aswell, was enjoying the band too much ;)

It depends what you get for that £2,000 really. We found our photographer and as soon as I went through his stuff it didn't matter what he charged, I wanted him to photograph our wedding and I was prepared to eat beans on toast for 2 months if I had to! Lol. But luckily he wasn't over the odds. He was in line with most established professional photographers.
If that includes an album, or two photographers, and it's all day, £2,000 is a little high but not totally off the mark. You should still be able to find decent photography in your area though for a more reasonable price.
Where abouts are you? Everything for my wedding is booked, so if you want a hand looking I'm pregnant and bored! Lol xx

We paid £2150 for our photographers, which included:
Two photographers from getting ready through to first dance Album Engagement shoot
So your £2000 isn't far off to be fair. OK, its top end price-wise, but bear in mind that price would include all the post-production costs which your photographer will have to to do on around 700+ photos. There's just as much work involved in this, as theres is on the day itself, believe me. That said, the £1000-£1500 isn't unreasonable either.
It all depends on how your prioritise it. If the photography is the be-all and end-all of your wedding, then £200 is worth the investment.
