Hi everyone, I'm having a massive stress about my wedding dress. It's 6 weeks until my wedding and my dress still hasn't been delivery to the shop! I ordered it in November last year and got told it usually takes up to 6 months to come back, taking us to mid May. Beginning of June I hadn't heard anything so I tried contacting the shop in several different ways, phone email and via fb message
I finally had a reply just saying they would try and contact designer but this could take up to 24 hours because they are in Canada. After 2 weeks I still hadn't heard the outcome of this conversation so I emailed them again, now they are telling me they have had problems with late deliveries for the last few months but mine is apparently the next one in but the owner of the shop has delayed delivery until she gets back from holidays middle of next week. So by the time the dress comes in and I organise a day where I can go in for a fitting with my mum moh and sister it's going to be at the very most 4 weeks to the wedding! Is this normal? I'm having a massive freak on! I am getting my veil and shoes from the same shop as it was deal at the time of me getting the dress, is it enough time to have it all sorted? Sorry for the long winded rant xxx

No wonder your stressing, that's very poor service from the shop! I would go in there the day the owner is due back and say you want answers and won't be fobbed off! Mine was ordered April and is already in and I know its quick but yours should have been in by now! and if ur worried about shoes n veil have u got them already? If not go in and try on the dress they have on the rack with veil and shoes so that can be sorted now. As long as the seamstress is able to do the dress if need to in the 3/4 weeks u have them all is ok. Really hope u have answers soon as must be so scary for you x

Firstly, don't panic. 4 weeks is more than enough time for alterations. Yes, you would usually have more than this, but not by much. My friend had her first fitting 8 weeks before, and her 2nd 4 weeks before. They don't actually need that time to do the work, it doesn't take weeks it's just so they can fit it in. I would simply be firm with the shop. If they're telling you it will be there by x date then book an appointment for x date to be fitted (or asap) to put it on and get the alterations done. xx

I didn't start getting mine altered until about four weeks prior but it depends on how much needs doing as well, mine was all done in two weeks in total but only a small amount needed changing

I can see why your stressing but try not to. I'm sure 4 weeks will be plenty of time for alterations

I can understand why you're stressing but try not to, the bridal store will have to ensure you get your dress on time, it's in their interests to otherwise the publicity for them could be bad.

I did not get my fittings/alterations done sorted until approximately 4 weeks before the wedding so you should be fine there.

I think the length of time for dress to come in is longer than u shud of waited aa for fittngs tho my 1st one is 2nd july my wedding is 31st july. 4 weeks before the wedding i think is enough time for them to do alterations my seamstress said even with all the proms going on atm 4 weeks is more than enough time for her to do nine and bridesmaids dresses and other peoples whos needed aswell.

Keep pushin for the dress to be delivered as u need to check it before even thinking of a fitting x

the fact its not here yet would stress me to hell, part of the reason i ordered mine nearly 2 years before my wedding, but i only had my first fitting 5 weeks before, just today had my 2nd fitting with 2 weeks to go as my lady has been really busy getting prom dresses out. and my final fitting is booked for next thursday with 5 days to go.

That gives 3 weeks for the alterations to be done. your seamstress should be ok with this.
Can you not pick your shoes and veil now.. one less thing to worry about?

Fingers crossed all goes to plan this week!
