I'm new to this site. Me and my partner have finally set a date for June 2015 but we are doing it abroad in Dominican republic. we both love our families very much but there has been various things happen in each of our family which is not possible for them to join us on our special day (illness, expensive travel insurance, divorces of parents) They are just to name a few. They are all upset that they can not join us, but are happy for us that we are getting married. They will just be throwing us the after party when we are home. I've just emailed thomson travel agent online as we have found 2 different hotels that we would love to get married. Any information that you may have for me and my partner would be very grateful :)
Thank you all so much. And i enjoy to spending some time on here and reading through all the other topics and hopefully making a few net friends too on the way :) Natalie xxxx

Hi and welcome :-) I've been to the Punta Cana area of the Dominican Republic 3 times; we stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro the first time (2008) and then the Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda (upgraded section within the same complex) in 2012 and 2013. I don't know anything about weddings there, but feel free to give me a shout if you'd like any info on the hotel or area (eg trips/excursions/weather) :-)

My best friend was married in Punta Cana (Sirenis suites) and it was amazing, they pulled out all the stops and made it such a wonderful day. If you end up looking there, feel free to ask any questions and what I don't know, I will find out for you.
We were there in late June/early July and it was HOT so if you are going high season then think carefully about the dresses and get short/thin ones as I was melting in a long bridesmaids dress x
