    I'm totally 100% DIY,ing the wedding.
My home is filled with boxes of candles and jars and log pieces and archways and pom poms - LOL
but it's always niggling at me that I cannot actually dress the venue until the day..... then it's too late to go back if it doesn't look right.
Its bothering me so much I wind up having those dreams where everything is going wrong and the place just looks like a cheap mess.

Maybe I'm over thinking it I dont know... I'm a perfectionist and it's bothering me that I cannot get in the place to dress it just so I can see what it looks like. Or is this the wedding jitters that I'm hearing so much about? I only get married in September.

Can you ask the venue to dress it for you? That way you don't have to worry about it on the day.

Yes they will happily dress it for me, I'm worried that the decor wont match. I've gone for a vintage theme but I'm scared things are going to look mismatched or slap dashed together.

why not ask them if you could set up one table before hand so they know how you want it. That way you get to see a mock up and they can visualise what you actually want

My venue are dressing mine but I'm going in the day before to do the first table like Emily suggested.

Could you maybe see if you could go and mock it up a month or so before hand if they have a free slot of an hour or so? that way it will calm your nerves and you'll be able to work out if you're missing that special something.

But remember, only you know how it is meant to look so no one will notice if it isn't perfect.

I have the same feeling!! I can't go in before hand either as my venue literally have conferences or weddings every day, what I have done is a table mock at home. I would say do a set up at home and ask for someone's opinion my mil came around looking at my bits and said it looked alright (which is really good for her!)

I'm totally with you on this. I'm praying I can stay at the venue the night before to get the dressing done and allow me the time to get everything right. I will only be able to do this if there is no wedding the day before. The thought of only having a couple of hours to do it all is one of my biggest stresses. Like you I'm worried that suddenly all the bits I have brought will look terrible and cheap together. My only solution to this was to rein in my ideas for decor. Keep it as simple as possible. The less stuff I have the more time I will have to ensure it looks perfect and less likely to find things don't compliment each other. Coming to this decision has settled my nerves a bit.

We got lucky, there were no other bookings for our room between Wednesday and Saturday when we married, so we were able to set it up the way we wanted. Maybe nearer the time you can find out if the venue is free at least the day before.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Thanks Elinor. I have sent an email to the venue but still yet to hear from them.
I'm staying the night before at the venue and have until at least 2pm to see it being set up. I'm just a perfectionist and if its not quite right it niggles at me.
Still my bridesmaid drives so I may have her run out to do last minute runs to the craft shops. hehe.

We booked the venue for the day before to dress it and we laid a table out roughly so the caterers knew how we wanted it. The flowers and balloons that we had on the tables were delivered and laid out on the morning of the wedding.

I want to diy my venue as well, have an idea of how i want it to look, but whats in your head doesnt always translate. Some good ideas on here though, especially dressing a table at home for a mini trial run. Hope it all turns out great stephanie
