Hi,I'm in the middle of looking at wedding insurance now we're starting to pay out some bigger deposits...
Does anyone know if it generally covers you if you split up...god forbid this wont happen but it's put the thought in my head cos of the stories on here I keep reading... Haven't really seen it on the policies when I've looked at them online,..am I best emailing before taking one out?
And I don't want to lose all the money I'm putting in if this happens xx

A lot of them cover 'cancellation of wedding' so you should be fine x

Hi KelBel I sorted my insurance out and it does not cover splitting up. Different companies cover different things so it may be worth having a shop around and emailing if you need to. It is a lot of money so make sure that you get the cover you need :) x

I've seen cancellation of wedding, but from what I've seen cancellation only covers if the venue has to cancel not if we cancel cos of splitting up or whatever... Thanks chanelP I'll email then n see what they say, most quotes are about £30 for the amount we're spending but I don't mind paying another £10 or so to get this level of cover x

Most places won't cover you for 'changing your mind' hun, it's more for unforeseen events etc...I don't think I came across any that did xx

No it wouldn't unfortunately, otherwise a couple could simply state they had split up to make a claim xx

:-( ... That's not good news, obv I don't wanna split up but you never know what's round the corner, and I've seen so many break up stories on here that it just got me thinking, and I didn't wanna have to still be paying my venue if we split x

Nope, when I was looking none of them cover you if you split up, as that is up to you. Generally it only covers things that are out of the couples control xxx

I don't think your venue would make you carry on paying but you would lose your deposit x

Our venue has a step by step payment thing in contract, depending on how close u cancel it, something similar to
If you cancel, amounts payable :
13weeks prior, 50% of venue fee which equates to £2,450
6weeks prior 75% of venue fee which equates to about £3750
