think it will depend on the vicar ...... might just be a donation to the church

I might need to know this too if i cant find a church to perform the actual ceremony as our local parish is quite far from our reception venue and will be a nightmare for our guests!

the cost for one quoted on the costs for my church was £150 for a blessing or renewal of vows. its put on the same list cos there are a few blessings and renewals in my parish this year apparently.

    hope this helps xx

Thanks hun, I would like a blessing done before our wedding reception when we get back from our wedding just to make the people who have missed out on our wedding feel more part of our big day if that makes sense?

I dont want a blessing in a church as we are not religious, how would that work? Would a registrar type person come to do it to venue of choice or????

Bridetobe2013 - maybe look into having a humanist perform your blessing?

If you search on here for humanist you will find threads with more about them but they arent religious xxx

ok .... to have a blessing or a renewal of vows you DON'T have to have a registrar there as there is no legal basis to the ceremony .... you could have a member of the family do this or a friend ... therefore it can be held anywhere

Just been on the Humanist website so know now what its all about

Ive read humanist weddings cost £350 upwards...H2B said he doesnt want one as we're going to be paying out for the reception also and we wont be able to afford it

Looks like that idea's out the window then!

It will be around £500 but depends on the church and the vicar. They charge for the use of the church, the vicars time and hire so wont be alot cheaper than a whole wedding just wont need the wedding registered.

Not sure, we did book ours last year and we've had the vicar for my sons christening my parents renewal and will be having him for our wedding and my daughters christening. We've been going to the church on and off for the past 3 years now xx

I think it depends on the church. My blessing is costing £430 - the full wedding service in the same church is around £550 sooo expensive
