    Hi all,

My step mum mentioned about asking the venue about corkage to see if we could save on wine and they have said they charge £11 per bottle as it covers chilling, glass hire and members of staff dealing with it.

I was just wondering did anyone else pay this amount? Is this an average cost?

    Thanks :)

I have paid £7.95 per bottle for corkage of wine.

Champagne was more, although I'm not sure how much more.

We didn't pay corkage as all drinks for the day were included in the package and then in the evening it was the venues bar so we didn't provide our own drinks.

Wow. That seems a lot to me. My venue don't offer it but depending on the wine you chose it can often be more expensive. Have to be careful they don't charge you for unopened bottles too.. They did at my cousins wedding but she asked them to keep the bottles so she could tell and only paid for what they opened.

Ours wasn't per bottle, it's a flat £500 charge for unlimited wine corkage, which we paid as I didn't like the wine that would have been included in the package.

The wine we are paying corkage on is wine I have brewed myself, the corkage cost was not by the size of the bottle it was just £7.95 per bottle.... So I made sure I used litre bottles when bottling the wine as that way we cut down on the amount of corkage due to having an extra 250ml per bottle compared to standard wine bottle sizes!

we have been quoted £5 per person which i think its better to pay per person as to per bottle so you can have as much wine as you like xx

£10 per bottle of wine, £15 for sparkling wine and £20 for champagne lol and that was before the VAT!! We managed to get the champagne for £15 per bottle, I did a trial run to brew my own, which worked, but the big vat I made I did wrong so I binned it off and bought £1.99 bottles of bucks fizz from aldi lol for a grand total of £36

My venue is £7.50 corkage per bottle. Their cheapest bottle of wine to buy is £15, so we are currently looking into buying decent wine at around £5 per bottle, even to save a bit.

We are paying a one off £200. That covers all drinks up to the end of the wedding breakfast and then cash bar for the evening reception.

One of the places I looked at told me they didn't charge "corkage" but would charge £3.95pp to supply glasses and serve wine which we provided.... I did have to stop myself laughing out loud when she said that!! @ldi do some nice wines, their rose in particular is just £2.49 a bottle and my friend all say it's the best they've tried so far (I only drink white so I wouldn't know). However the venue I have booked is a winery I didn't thing it was appropriate to ask them if we could bring our own but the drinks package they're providing is quite good so I'm not too fussed!!
