my venue has just told me that it is £8 per bottle for corkage. do you think this is a bit expensive as the bottles of wine there are only £12. i think having your eyes out is a understatement

Tbh its about right - they will charge you what they make on bottles - I know it doesn't cost this much but they still have to store, chill and serve it for you. I used to charge £10 per bottle of wine and £15 per bottle of spark wine/ champers. xxxx

Its to cover the profit they lose from you using your own wine.

i would use their own wine too, then at least you havent got to mess around, and you probably wouldnt get it much cheaper than £4 per bottle and it may be a little better quality x

OK....question on corkage. If we take in a bottle of champagne that the wedding car company are presenting us to drink at the reception do you think they will still charge corkage? If so, will open it in the car instead and drink it en-route!

they probably would jane, just drink it on the way, just you and h2b having your own private toast xx

and i would definetly pay for their wine, just saves the hassle, but then thats probably why they charge so much in the 1st place xx

We drank half our bottle in the car, but the venue gave us glasses for the last bit of the bottle Jane if that helps.

Our is £10 for wine and £15 for anything sparkly. So wasnt worth our while using corkage, so just buying their stuff. My drinks package is £23.15 for champagne on arrival and for toast, and half a bottle of wine for meal.

we bought a really expensive bottle of wine when we visited a winery on holiday in Oz recently, and are going to have that with our dinner at the wedding. So hoping as its only one bottle they will let us off with it!

We are £7.50 for wine and £9.50 for fizzy. To take a bottle of wine from the hotel is £15 and cava is £20, so we've bought our own.

Have got champagne for £14 a bottle and at least we'll be serving the real deal, and know we'll get bottles of wine for about £4 so should save a bit of money.

Also going to try to have corkage per head rather than per bottle :-) xx

That is pretty cheap compared with some places. The reason they do it is so you buy their stuff it usually works out cheaper to get theirs in the end so we didn't bother getting our own.
