What is everyone's thoughts on wedding competitions? have you entered any?

I have entered loads and have heard back from none. Not even a sorry or announcing who one.

I do wonder if some of them are genuine or if they are just a scam to and no one ever actually wins just a publicity stun or even worse you win and they try and make you pay for things. E.g. photos, products.

Maybe I'm just really unlucky haha :)

Definitely keep trying. We won a band to play during our evening reception. We are so excited as we were getting to the point when we thought we wouldn't be able to afford one. I forgot to tell OH I'd even entered so he was even more chuffed when the call came through.

The band are quite local to us and the competition was advertised on FB so it might be best to look for more local competitions from local suppliers. X

Some are genuine. There are others where you win something but to take it up you have to pay for other things. I suspect in many cases there are so many entrants that they don't contact everyone, they just say if you haven't heard by a particular date you haven't won, or this is how to contact us if you want to know the result. It's worth entering if it's free as you have nothing to lose, but don't get your hopes up and check the terms of any prize carefully before accepting.

I am dubious about enteeing any comps... Only because i was once totally harassed by a lazer eye surgery company id never heard of.
Go through legitimate sources and keep trying... You never know ;-)

I have done competitions before but never really won anything ,and yes don't hear anything back about who has won or where to get a list from. I have won a sw@tch watch but that was a closed quiz competition for a certain sector of travel agents by an airline.

There are a HUGE amount of people entering these comps. It's going to look like you never win against all of those

I always enter a false number when I enter competitions so I don't get loads of harassing calls. I just change the digit at the end and know it's not even a valid phone number. If I happened to win they can email me.

My mum used to win loads of comps but she spent so much time entering them it was basically like getting rewarded for doing a job!
