hi all ive decided on a civil ceremony and reception all in one venue which i love. im just a bit confused on how it works that the bride and groom must meet the registrar before the ceremony individually as he will arrive before me and meet the guests but how do they stop the groom from accidently seeing the bride before her entrance? i think it sucks that i have to arrive at my venue in a car with my bridesmaids and mum then i have to meet the registrar in a seperate part of my venue but try to avoid htb seeing me, then i have to walk over to the ceremony again without being seen. when you picture your wedding you think you get out the car have some pics then make your entrance not sneek around and go for a meeting in a huge dress lol any one else having to do this or am i getting it all wrong? x

I didn't know you had to meet the registrar first? I'm having a church ceremony so it doesn't matter to me but your right, I'd hate having to do that! xx

They usually get there a little early to deal with the h2b's paper work so he can then go and wait in the wedding room so he won't see you. The venue arranges for you to go to a separate room to do the paperwork before you go in. I have made a point of asking the guests to make sure they have arrived well before I get there as I don't want to bump into them on the way there.

    I am having a civil marriage Mrsb2b

its true.. You DO have to see the registra on the day 10 mins b4 the wedding..

I have already asked about this and my registra has said the my H2B would be locked in the room along with all the other family members 15 mins b4 the marriage, so that she can see my when i draw up (so there is no way he can see me).. to go through the formalities.

check with your registra...on how she will do it... COS ITS THE LAW.. AND NOTHING ELSE CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT!!

its a real pain who wants to be seen before they walk in the ceremony room? im going to have to ask the wedding planner to make sure people are in the ceremony seated before the time im ment to meet the registrar so if i get married at 2pm im going to have the meeting at 1.45 would it be really rude to write on the invites for the guests to be seated by 1.30pm? x

No mrsb2b...I'm putting that on my invites. We're getting married at 1.30pm in the same place as our reception and asking our guests to make sure they arrive for 1pm.

Its to check all your details are correct like your age, address etc and that you are confirming that you are that person etc.

oh so its just a quick thing thats ok thought it was filling out loads of forms and knowing my nerves if i can correctly tell them my name and age ill be surprised haha
im glad its not rude to put it on invites it saves hassle and worry for me. i want my bms to walk in before me like they would in a church so they are just going to have to hang around waiting for me to get a grip lol x

Def not. I have clearly stated the order of the day and what time guests should be there and what time I get there.

    Mrsb2b....

its just a 5 min thing where you just have to confirm:
Both Your Names DOBs, Addresses.... etc etc, and she will just confirm that theres no legal reason
why you both cant be married etc and tha nothings changed from when you gave ya notice....

    theres no form filling!!

My friends registrar just did it outside the ceremony room before it was about to take place. Then walked in and a few minutes later, the BM then the bride & her dad so it's obviously not a massive thing, they just have to double check you're still who you are ha!

H2B has to arrive about 45 mins before me. The registrar has to meet with him to make sure he is who he says he is and that no one is forcing him to get married. He then goes into the room where the ceremony takes place with all the guests. i arrive about 10mins before the ceremony and in the entrance hall the registrar asks me the same questions. They have to do this now because of illegal immigrant marriages and forced marriages. They have to ask everyone for Equal Opps. reasons. i then make my grand entrance.

I am having a civil ceremony and reception in one place. My H2B will be staying in a lodge on the grounds with his best men and will come to main house just before the ceremony. I will have a room in the main building, my entrance to the ceremony is down the grand staircase from my room so i will have to stay there for the morning which is fine as i will spend most of that time calming my nerves and getting ready. Im hoping the registrar will come to my room and see me beforehand.

We've got this issue in Vegas. We're going to go to the chapel when we arrive in LV on the Monday to see if we can sort it all out then otherwise H2B risks seeing me at the chapel and us staying in separate hotel rooms the night before will be pointless!
