    Hey everyone,
Am getting married next year and we planned the "princessy wedding" had it all, and then all my family including my mumbl started arguing because they didnt like this and that. so we cancelled everything and decided o go get married in church, have no type of reception and just jumping in "just married" car and off to the airport.

But am not very sure what to do with guests and how to tell them there will be no reception or evening do, also I have family coming over from Latvia and not sure if am meant to be responsible for them or can i just leave and let me mum deal with them ?

If family are coming that far could you not have a BBQ at your mums house or something after the wedding? That way you get to see some of your family before you jet off? Then it's only small scale and you can go whenever you want but there's no awkwardness of having to tell people there's no reception and things ?

We are having a mini reception in church afterwards.

Cakes and drinks, prosecco, hot chocolate and tea and coffee. Speak to the vicar about it

i think you just need to be open with your guests and let them know there is no reception, to me I woukd find this a little odd as a guest but it's your day so you have to do what's right for you both xx

Isn't it amazing how a day of joy can bring so many arguments and bickering. You can not please everyone, I have gotten to the point that I am not letting it bother me, I am marrying the man I love, thats the main thing. Its taken me a long time to accept certain peoples behaviour. I hope that your mum will come. I am sure if you were to say you were canceling things your mum would tell you not too. Hope it all works out xx
