Hi everyone, I was wondering how many wedding dreses you had to try on before finding the dress you want. I tried about six dress and I was torn between two dresses which should be in my photo albums if anyone wants to look at them. But my dress that I've chosen is the first one in the album (the one with a blue ribbon by my waist)

Hi Joanne - I think it's probably very different for everyone. Some people already have an idea about what they would like, try it on and know straight away and that's what they go with, others probably take longer. Personally, I visited 4 shops, trying about 3 dresses in each shop, I found my dress in the final shop and it was the 4/5th dress that I tried x x

I never tried on any, I found the one I loved, ordered it and loved it even more. It was a huge gamble to honest, but it paid off.
I love your dress, I much prefer the one with the blue belt rather than the brown.

I probably tried on around 6/7 dresses but fell in love with the first one I tried on and my mind just kept going back to that one - nothing else could compare to it. It was actually the one I'd seen online initially and fell in love with, and was actually the one I ended up with so I think I'm probably one of the few who didn't end up with something completely different to what I thought! xx

Over 20, but being petite it was never going to be easy. Ended up trying a fit n flare and it was the one, despite it being the opposite to what I thought I would end up with.

I tried on around 20 dresses, 4 bridal stores and some high street.
My mind kept going back to the 6th dress I tried on in the first bridal boutique so I knew that was the one. I even tried on dresses I'd fallen in love with in pictures but they just weren't right.
Everyone is different. Main thing is you will know when it is the one, you just fall in love with it.

The two dress that is in my photo album is the third and the fourth dress I try on. I knew that out of the six dress they were my favourites and only then I was able to choose between the two after having the veil and the tiara to go with it.
Glitterfairy- it's the blue dress that I'm having, the brown dress was my second favourite.
Every time I look at the photo of my wedding dress I can't help but smile. My H2B always say to me everytime I see the picture of the dress I start glowing.

I think that dress is wonderful. I get married in 10 months and I still havent found one I want. I tried on a veil and that made me all weepy and i'm not even having a veil. So I've tried on a fair few and still dont have one I like. xx

I know someone who tried on over 100 dresses and didn't find the one until about 4 months before her wedding.

Gorgeous dress sweetie.
I looked at millions online. Found someone that stocked my favourite and tried it on to make sure I loved it as much in real life, which I did. I suppose that means I only tried on one!

Lovely dress :) I've not started shopping yet, but I do know that I have no idea what I'll end up with! Originally I wanted a mermaid style dress, then I found something online that was A-line, then I was toying with ankle length or even a shorter dress as we are getting married abroad. I suppose when I try it on I'll know!

I love that dress, a proper sparkly princess :-)

I went to 2 stores and tried on about 12 overall, my dress was from the first shop that I went to, I knew quite quickly but wanted to try on some more to double check. I tried on some at the next shop but didnt feel anything the same as the first one so went back to the first shop and tried my dress on again and went for it :) xx

I thought I had chosen 'the one' online already, but when I went to the wedding show as bridesmaid for my sister this year I saw so much variety and potential choices that I can't wait to start trying them on now! I won't limit myself but instead try a few different styles I'd not considered before. Going to have to wait a while yet though, will probably start looking next spring/summer.
Oh and I meant to say the dress with the blue ribbon is lovely :)

Thank you ladies. I instantly fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on but I wanted to have a look at other dresses just in case but they didn't compare to that dress. The dress with the blue ribbon is very princessey which matches me perfectly because my family has always called me princess and sort of treated me like one. StephH96- when you find the dress, you will know it. Where are you getting married aboard?
CommentAuthorBecci93
I tried tonnes of dresses on and something of all different styles ... I loved most of them so I found it a really difficult choice!
I took photos of them all and shortlisted the dresses from the photos at home which helped narrow it down to about 7/8 dresses but I had two favourites that were extremely difficult to choose between

I spent a lot of time looking online at ideas, and then spent a day going round four or five shops trying on three or four dresses in each. A lot were really nice but none were the one. I went to another shop a couple of weeks later, saw one and went 'wow'. When you know you just know.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I know it's such a pain when the sample isn't the right size - it's difficult to really see how the dress would look on you. I can't wait to try mine on when it arrives - have got to wait until April though.

Whilst the other ones I tried on were too small, they did at least do up to some extent, but the one I chose was really too small and wouldn't do up at all... so it was really tough as I looked like a heffalump in it but I LOVED it. I tried on dresses in the same style so I knew that was the style that suited me, so I just bit the bullet and went for it in the end. I can't wait to try it on when it comes in but I am also quite nervous about it! Mine should be coming in in November, eeeek.

Eeek - exciting indeed :-) I've taken a bit of gamble with mine too as it was too big and too long, but just felt right. My only concern with mine is the back as it's a bit more daring than I would have liked as would have preferred an illusion back like yours, but the dress felt so lovely on that I thought sod it, everybody is going to expect me to be in a demure dress, you only get married once!!!!

I just hope that the gamble pays off for you :) with my dress it actually fit me so it was the perfect which I was very happy about. The dress with the brown ribbon didn't fit me so the seamstress had to try and clamped the dress the best she could. That's why it look big on top

Joanne- I m getting married in Vegas so it will be hot, but we are having a helicopter ride straight after so decided against mermaid as couldn't be doing with the faff of getting in and out of it in a tight dress!
CommentAuthorJoanneH4
Becci93- your welcome and I can see why it was a hard decision for you. StephH96- what about having a short wedding dress or having a flowy wedding dress.
CommentAuthorStephH96
Yes, I'm thinking along those lines now, saw some 50s style dresses the other week that looked nice. My problem is that I would like to incorporate some purple - picky I know!
CommentAuthorJoanneH4
I hope you find the dress you are looking :) x
CommentAuthorBecci93
Most bridal stores can add coloured belts to dresses if you're wanting a splash of colour I wouldn't necessarily go out looking especially for a dress with purple already on it as there won't be many .. Easier to find a dress you love and have purple put on it
CommentAuthorBecci93
Although alfr3d ang3l0 does do a rather impressive gown with colour of your choice all in the train but it's quite a big dress so probably not great for the helicopter
