He has just been diagnosed with haemophilia (a condition that affects the blood's ability to clot.) With him being so young we don't yet know how bad the condition is. It could be a case of if he falls and cuts himself he will bleed for longer than normal or it could be as extreme as if he falls/gets knocked etc he could bleed internally.
My sister was either going to get a baby sitter for my nephew and just bring my niece to the wedding or just not come at all, as she doesn't want to put any added stress onto us regarding wedding planning and safety for little one. Obviously I told her to stop being so silly and that I would do everything possible to minimise the risk of him getting hurt, so she has decided to bring both the kids.
Anyway he will be 16 months old when I get married and possibly walking. I have been brain storming today regarding safety and so far have come up with:- Padded high chair, Doors closed at all times (due to large stair case), reminding older children to be careful around the younger ones and babies, No free standing decorations ie. LOVE letters, First aid kit, Designated driver to hosp if needed (his dad, they are staying at ours night of wedding which is 2 mins walk from venue), Informing my aunties of his condition (both nurses, one is a paediatric nurse) and a quiet area.
I know there will be a lot of people there to keep an eye on him and it all may seem very extreme but we would rather be OTT and safe then not and be sorry.
Can anyone think of anything else we could do? or would you say we have it all covered?

The only thing I can think of that you havent mentioned is to ensure your venue knows as well.

You could create a safe space for him too just incase, because no matter how much you tell kids, they always get boisterous at these events, so having somewhere he and his mum/dad/sister can go sit/play for a bit would be good. You could use a baby play pen or just furniture to cordon off a corner?

Thanks Ladies. I've just let the venues know and they are happy for us/them to make any alterations needed to make it safe for him.
That's a great idea wundatigga Thank-you. I still have my son's play pen so can baby proof it even more and pad it out. Will also go through all my sons toys and put some on one side to put in it.

I think the playpen is a great idea, obviously by then his parents will know an awful lot more about his condition so I would be guideded by them
I'm sure his parents will be happy to advise him but a safe place/play pen are a great idea. You could hire some of the soft pen pieces and set up a quiet area. Even a ball pit would do as they aren't too bad to hire or even buy.

Thanks ladies. My sister and brother-in-law keep updating us on things baby's specialists are recommending (seeing them daily atm) and I've let them know the idea's you lovely ladies are coming up with. We are being extra cautious as there will be 50+ children at our wedding (I know we are mental!).
Love the ball pool idea as well. We have one of those too so will just use ours.
