Wedding Forum - Changing your name ?...

I was going to change and get the babies done by deed pole (they have my surname) but my mum said that my daughter may get confused (she has learning difficulties) and it may be too much for her so am going to have a sit down with my lil girl closer to the time and see 1 what she would like to do and 2 if she understands, if not then we're going to double barrel so she can choose which surname to go by xx

at my daughter's school... one of her teacher's is a Mr Nutt... and yes, his first name is Peter :).... one of my late father's friends was called Ship - his first name was Arthur (say it quick and drop the 'th' to a 'f' as is done in 'bad speak land' - half-a-ship) - made me laugh everytime..

I've taken My husband's name - now just got to find that list of where to change it all (done bank and building society and work so far).

I am changing my name, I have 2 brothers who can carry on the finch name plus my son is a Conroy like his dad and I always feel left out!!!

Im definitely changing my name even though it will sound a little silly. xx

I'm on my second time around. The first time I married, I did change my name but I hated my married name and was really happy to get my maiden name back when I got divorced. But, saying that, I'm seriously considering taking my fiance's surname when we marry next year. xx

I'm definitely changing my name. I have two brothers and three male cousins so there are plenty of people to keep the name going. I'm looking forward to not having to coach people in how to both spell and pronounce my surname, Buglass. The first symbol is not like the creepy-crawly, you have to imagine it's spelt Byooglass. Dixon is so much easier, I just have to say that it's with an X.

Also looking forward to getting my numb plate like the hubby's x

I think i'm going to change mine - although i will miss it, I'm a teacher so i'm used to hearing it all the time - just wont be the same when i have a new last name! But thinking of keeping my current last name as an extra middle name, its a bit to finnicky to have it double barrelled with the OH's name.

I've thought about having a double barrel name but it would just make my name a mouthful as I have two middle names. If I had a double it would be J M C P M so going to just take his name but my initials will still be JMCM - lol I feel a song coming on relating to the bm's song ha ha :p

I am definitely changing my name, if only to finally have a name that English (and Scottish) people will be able to pronounce... The problem with a Luxembourgish last name is that no one outside of Luxembourg knows how to pronounce it.. Freeman is that much simpler ;)

I'm changing mine but feel a bit sad as my daughter is Hewitt my son is warmisham so she will be the odd one out :/ we are going to try change her surname I haven't seen her sperm donor since I was 12 weeks pregnant with her and he's not on birth certificate obviously but still don't know of we will be able to make her a warmisham with us, makes me sad to think she might be the odd one out and I'd hate her to feel like she is :(

I am thinking of a double barrel name ! I have a daughter from a previous relationship and she is upset that she is going to be "left out" with the last name situation her dad wont even let her double barrel her name. But I'm unsure of what to do so confused with it all ! xx

Yeah i think so , Just the Mrs changes as even if you keep your maiden name, you are still married, thus MRS

at first I was thrilled to become Mrs. Long - but the more I've thought about it, I adore being a Ritchie. the family name means so much to me.

I'm still thinking over the decisions but as the wedding draws nearer, I feel more inclined to stay a Ritchie woman <3

I prefer my maiden name, but would never tell my fiance this, as it would offend him. I will be taking his name

My h2b changed his surname. It was his biological dads family name, but he hasnt seen him in 20years. He changed to his mums maiden name for his granddad. When we told him the reasons he shed a tear and said he was so proud. I had 9 years to get used to being a wyatt so now I am just getting used to the idea of being dr lunness.

I always said I wouldn't change my name to anything that was more common than mines as not much people up here are Kennedys but there are loads of Buchans/Taits etc but since H2B is a Pesic (which is even more uncommon) I'll defo change it.

I have 2 brothers who can continue the Kennedy name (or 3 sisters if they choose to) but Andrew is the only male Pesic left to continue his.

The strange thing is Andrew has a sister Liane who has the number plate L19 PES - which will be perfect for me once she gets married as I'm L(ouise) 19 is my birthday and I'll be a PES :)
