My husband and i have been married for just short of 5 months and as a wedding prezzie from my dad he is paying for us to fly over on holiday next year to Tenerife for our first year wedding anniversary, so... i only baught a new passport just before the honeymoon so it stil says my maiden name and i really don't want to change my passport if i don't have to.

Do i have to change my passport or can i somehow get away with it and carry my marriage cert at the airport?

    Cat x

In short ....NO . your ticket and passport have to be in the same name .....

Simple answer when booking your holiday book in your maiden name

I've still got another 4 years left on my passport. We got married 2 years ago and I refuse to change it - it simply is a waste of money. It just means that I have to remember to book in my maiden name when we go away now. Simple!

I am having to renew now, but as we are booking the honeymoon this week I will have to book in my maiden name. As long as any tickets are booked in the same name as whats on your passport you will be fine (you just have to remember to book in your maiden name lol)

my honeymoon is in my maiden name as my passport runs out about 18 months after the wedding and I wasn't having the extra expense of changing the passport and losing all those months left on it either x

Phone the passport office - they are open 24/7, I rang them and explained the situation played the pity party and they are doing my passport in new name with same expiry date as old passport, but I think she said something about they will only do that with X amount of years left on it, but you may as well ask the question? x

we booked in my maiden name to correspond with my passport, I'm quite happy to do this whilst my passport is valid i don't see a point in spending money to renew.

I am the same as Janet. My passport was only renewed in 2012 so I shall use my maiden name for all holidays including when we booked our Honeymoon until my passport expires.

You can have a name change on your passport up to 3 months prior to your wedding although it will not be valis until your wedding date it will be valid for the remainder of years on the original passport ... So it's better money wise to let your passport run out then just a new one

Yes three months before you fill in a normal passport form with your married name. You also need to fill in a pd2 form and take it to the registra to sign, then send both off. They will post date your passport in your married name dated your wedding day. The pd2 form basically is an assurance from the registra that it is their responsibility to inform customs if the wedding does not go ahead x both forms are available from the post office x

You need a new passport or you could get into lots of immigration trouble.

Oh sorry, it helps if I actually read the thread! Yes the flight needs to be booked in whatever name is on your passport, so either change to booking or the passport. Both will cost something im afraid!
