What time are you all starting your ceremonies from? I am hoping to confirm this tonight with the Priest when we meet so I can crack on with the invitations. OH wants 12 noon, but he got a bit of a strop when I said 1pm and then he said it would be down to me if the timings were all out with sitting down to eat etc.

Our timings are a bit different because we're having our whole day under one roof, but our ceremony is starting at 2pm. I would be inclined to agree with you and go with 1pm... it just gives you that little extra time to get ready, enjoy the morning and the build up etc.

How far are you travelling from the church to your reception venue? xx

It's about a 10 minute (if that) drive away.
He doesn't understand about the hair and make up thing - he thinks I can just get up, dressed and go but when I explained about my hair and make up he just didn't get it. I'll take it that he doesn't want to have to wait and is eager to marry me, but will suggest 1pm tonight when he's back from London and before we go to see the Priest at 7.30pm.

Our church ceremony was at 1pm. The venue was 10 mins away and the drinks reception was at 15:30 followed by sit down meal was at 4:45pm.

In hindsight I'd do the ceremony at 2pm to give an extra hour to get ready as I started at 6am and didn't eat lunch.
i did worry that guests (especially children) also missed lunch due to the times but no one seemed to mind.

Our ceremony was at 12:00, and it gave me plenty of time to get ready. I was up about 8:00, and hair and make-up came at 9:00. Then I got into the dress and had photos, and the cars arrived at 11:30. It meant we had lots of time for photos at the church, and we got to the reception venue, which wasn't far away, at about 3:15, with the wedding breakfast at 4:00. I don't think I'd have wanted to go much later, as by the time the meal and speeches were done and the room changed around for the evening we didn't really start the evening until 7:30ish. Maybe you could suggest a compromise of 12:30.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Thanks EC. You've put my mind at that. The Priest had us in for 12 noon and it was quite an intense meeting so decided to go with it!!!!

As long as you think you have enough time to do everything that's OK.
Personally I'd go for as late as possible - I like my sleep!
We are getting married 2pm and its just the 2of us so that should be fine.

I think if you are having a wedding breakfast with day time guests and then an evening buffett, I think the earlier time would be better, only because by the time you get out of the ceremony, have pics etc, get to the venue you are rocking on towards 2 maybe even 3pm.

We had a 3pm ceremony as we were getting married and having the reception in the same place and this also meant we only needed the one meal.

Our ceremony was at 1pm. Our venue was about 15 minutes drive from the church. We sat down for speeches, wedding breakfast etc at about 4pm. We had plenty of time for photos at the church and the venue before we sat down for the meal. The caterers served our evening buffet (bacon baps and fish and chip cones) at about 8pm.

Our ceremony is at 12. The venue is about 30 mins away from the church so we are aiming to get there for around 2pm for welcome drinks and canapes then a sit down meal at 3:30pm. Evening starts at 7pm.
