    Hi everyone :)
    Looking for your advice ladies!
Budget wont quite stretch to live music for the ceremony, sooooo what I was wondering was.... if you are having music on a cd for the ceremony, have you cut it to suit timings, and is someone in charge of it so its not just abruptly starting and stopping?! And also, any ideas for what me and the hubby to walk back down the aisle 2? (not tradional music)
    thanks :) xx

We have cut down the entrance song so there's so it plays at the right point etc! Were having Gotta Be Somebody by Nickleback which is'nt traditional! I think its good to think about songs/artists you both like and you might find something! :)

Or do a google for non-traditonal ressional songs and play a few and you never no!x

This is a good post as I will be having a cd player but don't know who will be hitting play etc. What happens at most weddings?

I think you would want a fade out rather than stop start x

We had a CD at our venue and we had the entrance song on a separate CD to the rest then if there was any delays it would automatically play again, we also wrote the track numbers down ie Registrar signing track two and three, exit track four. The Wedding co-ordinator at the venue sorted it out for us. x

It's great to say i get married this year September 1st 2012

Definitely get someone to manage the music for you, getting the timings right is a nightmare.

Oh I haven't really thought about this... I'm getting married in a registry office, I knew that we would have to have a few songs on cd for the ceremony but never thought of who will play it etc... this is a new worry for me! I had assumed someone at the registry office does it, but now im not so sure lol

We had a CD player and three separate discs "pre-ceremony (shuffle & repeat)"; "walking in" and "walking out" so it was nice and easy ... and asked a musical friend to be in charge of it ... he faded out the "walking in" song when I got to Dan, and then pressed play when we were ready to walk out. We had two longish songs for leaving so hopefully no-one left in silence.

We have a very short aisle so I'm going to be walking very slowly down it to cannon and then when we walk back we are having something a bit more upbeat. H2b is fading the cannon music out at the right point and burning it to a cd so that noone has to be in charge x

Me too Tatty... my aisle is about 8 foot long!!!!! Problem is, neither h2b or myself are any good at "technical" stuff like burning music onto discs etc! Keep putting this kinda stuff off in the hope it will magically sort itself out!!!xx

ooo elliekitty Nickleback are fab! :) I was going for the cd option before a friend and colleauge who is in a quartet has offered to play at a huge discount - otherwise we wouldn't be having them. we were going to nominate whoever was the most technical of our guests and give them the job lol x

We are going for cd to as the songs I have picked for going down the aisle and coming back up I just feel no one can do justice from the original artist :) as I am having a song I heard in a film ( cantt say exact as future sis in law on this site tto so want to keep somethings secrett :) ) but it a gorgeous song that from first time I heard it years ago I knew it was the song I would walk down the aisle to and then walking back up the aisle to at last. We used a cd as venue asked us too. We put our songs on that we were having all on one cd in the order to play them. You could skip to each song as the aisle i walked down to was short.I had "At Last" bu Etta James to walk into. xx

This is a good post. Me and the H2B need to sit down and discuss song choices! We have asked one of our Ushers to be in charge for the music and will do a practice run at home for him.

I am going to ask the venue if we can use an ipod instead of a cd as can not remember what they said! If not I like the idea of 3 disks!

I have decided on walking down the aisle to an instrumental of Nickelback - Far Away and have a surprise song for guests which the H2B is sorting out, but no idea for pre/signing register and us walking out!

Suppose plenty of time to search, problem is we have completely different tastes in music! Argh

There is really so much great music! I personally like the pieces which aren't the "classical" ones that everyone chooses, for example some of the ones this guy suggests:
