So when booking our wedding they said on that particular day they only had 3.15pm available for the registrar to come to our venue,so we took it,not thinking ahead really.
It was only when I came to the invites I thought on what time to invite people to the evening and I rang the hotel, she told me wedding breakfast at 6.30pm! And evening at 8.30-9pm! Bearing in mind it all finishes at 11.45pm.
Luckily I rang the registrar and I now have an earlier ceremony time of 1pm and works out a lot better now time wise but the problem I now have is.. I was getting ready in our hotel room from 12pm with wedding being at 3.15pm. But now surely an hour can't be enough to get ready? Especially with having to be interviewed by registrar etc I'm so nervous now I don't actually know what to do! Do I book a hotel room the night before or do I get ready at home and get a wedding car? I just do not know what to do now it's completely thrown me! Anyone else had an issue like this?

im getting ready at home then going in wedding car to the church. if i was having wedding in a hotel i would probably do the same but its my last night at home before i move away so i wanted to be at home. if i was getting ready at the hotel i would have a room the night before - they will probably give you a discount on the room if you ask. just depends where you want to get ready really x

I have a similar sort of problem. We live in a small house which is not suitable for me, four bridesmaids, a hairdresser, a make up artist, my mum and dad!!! I was gonna get ready at my grandmas, but I'm allergic to her dog. My mums house also isn't big enough and I can't have access to the bridal suite until 10am, the cars picking us up at 1, but then I'd have to go back on myself with travel.

So I'm really hoping that we can go to my hairdressers house, which is massive, and my hairdresser and make up artist are best friends. But I've got a while to sort it out.

I'd say, if you can, get a room the night before x

Good Luck!! You've reminded me about the interview with the registrar! So I had better have a quick chat and think about my times!!

Oh yeah don't forget about that only takes around 15-20 mins I think each. I was shocked they did it to be honest other halfs a real joker too so no doubt he will say I've made a mistake I don't wanna marry her! When we gave notice he told the lady that I was only marrying him to get a passport, she didn't do jokes and looked at him deadly serious and carried on writing so he's been warned- no more jokes! At one point she even told him he needed to be serious now as he was signing a legal document.whoops

Good luck with the hotel - trying to get ready in an hour would be so stressful.

I am now thinking I may stay in a hotel as I hadn't even thought of the state my house would still be in when I got back, had only thought of the lack of space getting ready. Don't really want to spend the first day of married life cleaning up after messy bridesmaids lol

That's another thing elizabethf49 you've just reminded me, the tradition that you're supposed to not see each other and stay seperate well I kinda wanted to wake up with other half on morning of our wedding I want to see how excited he is! But then I'd like to go off get my hair make up done etc dress on and him not to see me until I walk down the aisle(hotel wedding not church) is this really bad luck and is anyone else doing it? I just can't wait to see his face on morning of wedding!

I stayed with my husband the night before our wedding and it was lovely to wake up with him on our wedding day (plus it was easier on our kids) and then he went up to his BMs to get ready and I got ready at home with my BMs

Yeah that's how I'd like it to be vicki I know it's not traditional but how nice will it be to just roll over on the morning and say I'm marrying you today see you soon.I think it'll make us both more excited x

Just got hold of my registry office about changing the time from 3pm to 2 and they charge a £10 admin fee to change a 3 to a 2 is it really that hard or time consuming to charge that when its already expencive enough as it is !

We are staying at the hotel the night before in separate rooms. He has a room with his best man, and I have the bridal suite with my bridesmaids. Hairdresser and make up artist both come to the hotel about 9ish, for a 1pm wedding. Xx

I agree if you're getting ready at the venue you'll be getting married at that it's better you stay the night before, then you can start getting ready at 10am and not feel pressured or rushed.
