Bridesmaids hate their unflattering dresses

When Bridezilla is on the loose, she's a nightmare and it's the bridesmaids who always get the brunt of it.

And it seems they aren't willing to put up with it anymore.

A new survey has revealed that seven out of 10 bridesmaids have been forced to wear an unflattering dress just to make the bride look prettier.

Furthermore, a fifth (22%) have insisted on changing their dress in some way before agreeing to participate in the wedding.

The results, taken from a poll of 1,000 bridesmaids, also found that only a third are given a choice of what to wear on the big day.

Brides were found to be at their most thoughtless in how she treats her closest friends at her wedding.

It was also found that 43% of women had been bridesmaids at a wedding which was a "bit naff" and a further 37% said they had been bridesmaids at a ceremony where they felt the wedding couple were mismatched and shouldn't be marrying.

More than half those polled (58%) admitted they had been bridesmaids at weddings where they were glad they were not marrying the groom.

Even though you may not be looking your best, weddings are happy hunting grounds for lots of single bridesmaids.

A fifth (20%) said they had picked up up a new man when they have been a bridesmaid. Just 9% said they had envied the bride on her wedding day and 6% of bridesmaid even admitted to fancying the groom!

However, only a tiny 3% admitted they had been romantically involved with the groom before he met his bride.

The poll shows that the real-life experiences of bridesmaids mirror the hilarious antics of the stars of the hit movie Bridesmaids.

I agree, I thought it was extreme too, you wouldn't want your bridesmaids looking awful. I did think it was funny though, no idea where they do these polls lol

I don't think I've ever been to a wedding that's "a bit naff" either. I've enjoyed them all, as they were all so different

I've been speaking to my bridesmaids about everything and asking their opinions on various dresses. Ultimately I am going to pick the dresses that I want but I want them to look stunning and feel comfortable on the day! Would never make them look ugly.. don't understand why you'd want to do that when it is your own wedding?!

I said to my bridesmaids from the start I want them to feel comfortable in their dresses I just insist on the colour of the bridesmaid dresses as each of us has a different body shape and like and hate parts of their body they don't want on show for those reasons I want them to feel comfortable a dress that will flatter them making the bridesmaid look uglier than you isn't right as their is no need for the bride to feel less pretty as all eyes on her and the groom Xxx

My bridesmaids picked their dress out of several options I gave them. Then they had a choice of color too. Their dresses were so nice I even bought one for myself! Infact, due to the dress color they chose they actually picked out our color scheme! I would never have considered putting them in a dress that they didn't like. Actually my original idea had been for us to be in Chinese style dresses but one of them said they didn't want to be a bridesmaid because of that, so I shelved that idea. It's a shame because it would have looked great (and been much cheaper) ... and also now I haven't heard from her since Feb and that was only because I sent her flowers for her birthday.
