I have been looking for bridesmaid dresses for my three girls and I am scared I am not going to find anything! The ones I have found that I like are being sold from China and I am dubious about using them, I have read too many stories of dresses being wrong, refund nightmares and all other things to chance them for the cheap price.

One of my girls will be about 13/14 for the wedding - does she count as a flower girl or as a bridesmaid?

My problem is that two of my girls are in North Wales and the other is in South Wales near me and I don't know where to begin, if I could get the dresses online it would be very helpful, but after checking some big high street names and big online retailers I am so worried I will not be able to find anything.

The budget for the three Bridesmaids is £400 (I feel terrible that that is all I can afford :( ) and I was hoping my fellow brides could help point me to a reliable place to buy the dresses and accessories online. I did think about asking them to pay for the dresses and buying them their accessories myself, but with it being a destination wedding (in a cold-ish place) and me wanting very formal, long dresses I would feel it cheeky or mean to ask them to shoulder the cost when they are paying for flights and things already.

Does anyone know any good online retailers? Or good shops in Wales? Cardiff is easy for me to get to, as is Bridgend, Newport, Abergavenny, Brecon and Swansea, although my Groom refuses to step foot in Swansea. My girls in North Wales cannot travel much as one is in school and the other works a lot, I know they would make the effort to go and look for dresses with me in person though and I know they would try. I can go to Manchester and Liverpool but only when I am in North Wales which I cannot do much, I am able to go up there 2-3 times a year.

Also, what do you ladies think of the Bridesmaids having a single stem instead of posies/bouquets? I like the idea but I am not sure about doing it myself

    Please help!?!?!

    Hey Sophie

Depends on the build of your 13/14 year old as to whether they could get an adult dress or go for a junior bridesmaid dress.

I'm not 100% on stockist etc of dresses, but I will keep an eye out for you as I am on the hunt for bridesmaid gowns myself this weekend.

Also I was thinking about single stems as an option for my bridsemaids the other day - but I think it would need to be big blooms like sunflowers/ peonies etc to work well. I'm giving my girls a choice in both dress style and flowers so we will see what they want.

The bridal shops in Cardiff all stock different designers, so it depends on what you've seen that you like. I got mine from the same designer as my wedding dress, as they complimented each other, and there were two Cardiff stores that stocked that designer. That way you could get dresses in matching colours that work together even if the style is different. BH5 do collections where they have adult and teenage versions of each dress, but the Cardiff store closed a while ago. I think they would be in your budget though.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Hiya, your 13/14 would definitely be a bridesmaid, and as Wundatigga says she could possibly go straight into adult sizes or may need junior bridesmaid dress. I know when I was that age I was buying clothes in age 15 or adult size 8/10.
BH5, ****D3b3nh@m5, M0ns00n, C0@st, or even more mainstream high street shops such as R1v3r Island, N3xt, N3w L00k all do nice dresses. I think your budget for 4 is a decent amount, that's £130 each which is more than enough if you stick to the high street. Even Qu1z had some nice dresses that would be suitable when I was looking for a dress at Xmas.
You could try online shops such as b00H00 ***dot c0m, v3ry, @s0s, as they all stock a range of brands and types of dress and you should be able to find something in budget there
Even better all of these places will have returns policies if the girls don't like the dresses.

I got my bm dresses from 3ver Pr3tty on @mazon for about £25 each. I bought one to check the quality and see what the girls thought and they loved it. It looks way more expensive than I paid and saved us so much.

I've seen Cala lillies used as single stem bouquets and they looked really pretty. They held them in the crook of their arm a bit like a baby rather than grasped in their hand.

Hi, I got my bridesmaid dresses from s3xyh3r. They are made in China, but have a uk base and a shop in Croydon (I think), they cost just under £60 each and the quality was good and the girls loved them. I'd also looked at 3v3r Pr3tty ones too, but they didn't have quite the right colour I wanted, but they looked great and I think a couple of other ladies on here have ordered from there and been as pleased as KirstyR xx

I bought my bm dresses from bh5 for all of the girls. The 11 year old fitted a size 6 (need slight alteration on length) and the 14 year old fitted a size 10 no problem. Should have been £80 each but got them in sale for £24 and a buy one get one half price. They've got a sa!e on at the no so def take a look!

    Good luck!

Definitely check out the highstreet shops. I got my bridesmaid dresses from M00ns0n. If your don't want bouquets for your bridesmaids or trying to keep costs down then what about a wrist corsage with single flower? I have ordered these for mother of the bride and mother of the groom. They are beautiful

Hi, depends on the bust size, my 12 yr old has got to get an adult dress as junior bridesmaid dresses only go to 30/32. Bit disheartening for her as then looks too older so she's not happy.
