So my bridesmaid to be has just had a tattoo that she said she would wait until after the wedding for. I'm fuming. She knew I wasn't keen on the idea and she said she would wait. I was going to have her as one of 3, now I'm debating having any. It looks awful and I'm quite upset by it, I don't want my bridesmaids in sleeves and don't know what to do or say.

EDIT: CATEGORY AND THREAD SUBJECT TITLE CHANGED TO ONE MORE APPROPRIATE. MODERATORS

I think your being a bit harsh... People can do what they want to their bodies. The world doesnt stop for someone elses wedding despite what us brides would like.

What if it was that she had got pregnant. or lost a lot of weight. Is she not allowed to change anything about her life because her friend is getting married...

Get her to cover it with makeup or something if your that upset but to turn against your friend because of timings of doing things in her life is too much in my opinion.

Also why would it affect your other 2 bridesmaids? have they also had tattoos?

Where is the tattoo? Guessing it's on her arm? You might not like it, but she does. If it's a case of maybe her wearing a pashmina type thing for photos it wouldn't be the end of the world. Sit Down, deep breaths and I'm sure you will come up with ideas.

Hey- to be honest I would be livid with you if you were livid with me because you didn't like tats and don't want one to be seen at your wedding! It doesn't take anything away from her as a person and if that's all that is the issue then seems a pretty silly thing to fall out over especially as can cover it up-Need a deep breath and a whole re think of situation before turning into a complete bridzilla!

I'm with you that I'm not a fan of tattoo but really isn't the end of the world xx

I know she promised to wait to have the tattoo done, but I think you are being a little harsh it is her body and its one day. I'm sure she will compromise with you on a cover of some sort but you will need to make that decision together, there are plenty of options to cover it without sleeves.

Meet up with her for a coffee or some food, say to her that you understand it is her body and she has every right to get whatever she wants done but your a little hurt as you has discussed it with her, however you still want her to be part of the day and would like to meet in the middle with a cover.

I don't think you caused any offence Claire, the whole point of the forum is to give everyone a chance to express their opinion. Each and every bride is different and some times we need to hear the different opinions to help us make our own decision.

Claire, you've not caused offence, it's your opinion, life would be boring if we all had the same opinion.

Yes that's the good thing about this forum- as long as you state your opinion and you are not nasty about it then that is fine, we all have different views and opinions and it is that that makes this forum :-) xx

All three of my bridesmaids have tattoos, and lots of them. I have none at all.
It doesn't bother me because these girls are my closest friends and despite them wearing the same dress they're still three very unique and different ladies.
If the tattoo isn't offensive don't worry about it, she's still your friend.

Our ring bearer has just broken her wrist and will be having a pink cast, I went mental for about 10 minutes until I thought about it, I now plan on unpicking the stitching in her bolero, threading some ivory ribbon through so that the cast will be covered for the ceremony and photographs. Could you offer something similar? A pashmina scarf perhaps?

Your day is far too important to worry about a tattoo on someone else. Deep breath, everything will be fine :)

I had the opposite conversation with my MOH & My Mother recently, as a bride to be.
I have tattoos, 4 ..{ On my arms & chest. } My MOH thought i should cover them, Mum doesn't like Tattoos on any one not just me! LOL... After few weeks of looking for a jacket or shrug, i found 1. Bought it, but don't like it at all.And i realised i was only doing it to please other people..

So i have decided its my body, i love my tattoos, have had them along time & all my guest have seen them b4, H2b doesn't have a problem with them.. I also decided i want a veil, which i wasn't sure about to start with, as this is my 2nd marriage, and i will be 47, when i become Mrs Dickinson, next year. But its my H2B first marriage and when he proposed He asked me "to do him the honour of being his bride!"
i think it will be nice for him to have the traditional (as i can get) bride...
So I've got a vintage ivory gown, & an elbow length veil... Can't wait to see his face at the registry office.

When you asked her to be a bridesmaid ,you asked for a reason .... sit and remind your self what they were ...
Was it because she has been a loyal friend, standing by you when you needed support, being there to lift your spirits, going out n dancing the night away with you, having giggles over the daftest things etc

    Or

Was it because she looks good and fits what you want in you wedding pictures ?
