Hi everyone. So I have 3 bridesmaids all of different tastes. We went to one bridal shop and tried dresses but none jumped out at me plus they were very expensive. I looked online and ended up seeing ones I really liked on M0ns00n. The girls didn't seem that keen but I asked them to come to the shop and try them. They didn't have them in pink but had them in navy so tried them for fit etc and loved them. They were a lot nicer on. But I have a few issues bothering me.....
Firstly it's from M00ns00n so I'm having images of someone turning up in the same dresses even in different colour. Personally I would never wear it to a wedding as it's very "bridesmaid" to me. What's everyone else think?(photos in album)
Secondly the original one was light pink but M0ns00n now seem to have changed it to a deeper pink. I'm not sure which I prefer and thinking of contacting them to see if they still have the light available. However I'm going for a rustic theme so the deeper May suit better?
Thirdly I have a bridesmaid who has been trying to get pregnant for quite a while. We are hopeful she will get pregnant soon, is on a list for possible treatment but is thinking on going private. That's the reason I haven't yet ordered I've been waiting to see if she gets pregnant. I'm thinking I could just get a few sizes bigger and have it altered either way but worried incase it turns out to be a disaster and the dress may then be discontinued. So maybe I should just get them from a bridal store.
Sorry for the long post. Would really appreciate some opinions.

I wouldn't wear that dress to a wedding. For me they are a lot more bridesmaid-y than they are guest-y. I would worry about being far too overdressed if I wore that to a wedding as a guest. I have said before, but it is a lovely dress and I think would suit your theme perfectly in either shade of pink.
As for the potentially pregnant bridesmaid, that's a tricky situation. I think your suggestion of ordering a few sizes bigger and getting altered either way is a good one, but you'd need to ensure there was enough give in the material to alter a few sizes up, it might not be possible to do this if required. Could you order 2, one in her normal size and one in a bigger size? Then she'd have 2 to choose from and you could sell the other one?

Thank you flossie. I'm really not sure which shade I prefer. Seems a bit weird that they changed the colour. That's a good idea about buying 2 dresses! But then it's more money and may not get the other sold. I'm worried to leave it too long incase they run out of sizes there is already one size out of stock. I was thinking if maybe she was heavily pregnant as long as the bigger size still fitted at top the dress maker could maybe put in a panel around bump however it May make the dress look very different to the rest

Could you order 1 as a trial, go to see a dressmaker and ask for their opinion on alterations if needed? May be a good place to start so you know what your options are from the offset? xx

I think it depends on who's going to your wedding if it was me and Flossie going she's said she wouldn't wear it but that's a dress I would wear to a wedding! threes always a risk I guess but you would just have to take it and its prob going to be pretty slim that it would happen xx

Yeah I think its lovely and I don't think its to dressy for a wedding guest to wear, I like to be very dressed up for a wedding though, everyone has different opinions on things so doesn't mean they will think the same as me lol xx

I wouldn't think someone looked particularly out of place or overdressed if they turned up to a wedding wearing that dress or similar as a guest, but if I was to wear it I would feel quite overdressed I think... it's just not me. That's not to say it's unsuitable as a dress for a guest to wear though, like Sarah said I guess it just depends on the individual person!
I'm running the risk too as my dresses are similar to yours Danielle, floor length chiffon dresses xx

There are a few I can think of going to wedding who like to get VERY dressed. The dress online is in the wedding section though under bridesmaids. The navy is available in our local store though.

To be honest I'd probably not wear a floor length dress at all as a guest. Would opt for a mid length dress xx

I wouldn't have thought anyone would choose that to wear to a wedding- it is very much a brides ace dress- if people wear maxi dresses they tend to be a bit more casual or a mid length dress rather than that long- I love the lighter version :-) xx
CommentAuthorDanielleS0709
Michelle I think I prefer the lighter version too but unfortunately I don't think it's available anymore

They are very bridesmaid, I wouldn't wear it to a wedding as a guest.
I love both shades so sorry can't help there.
Maybe ask your BM who is looking to get pregnant what she would like to do, give her the option or chance to help make the decision. Either you get her size and if she gets pregnant she foots the bill for a new dress or you get her a bigger size and she pays for alterations she needs.

Lovely dress, I very much doubt anyone would turn up wearing that to a wedding as a guest though. I am loving the darker shade more though,I think it might be worth chatting to a seamstress though first and ask them if you order a bigger size and it needs to be taken in for any reason would it be possible to do this without disrupting the dress. If they can, go ahead and order them.

Just had a look and I agree with the others - I wouldn't have thought a guest would turn up in either of those dresses as they scream bridesmaid rather than wedding guest. Personally I prefer the lighter shade rather than the darker shade and would have thought the lighter shade would fit more in with a rustic theme, but that's just my opinion. PS LOVE the shoes as well!

Lindsey I love the shoes too I was planning on wearing the pink ones myself but think I've changed my mind. Got a nice blingy head piece so might get blingy shoes to match. Plus I'd like open toe

You never know, if they don't have the lighter one, it may because they are discontinuing it and you'll get it cheaper.

I mean have you looked on the bay to find that particular dress? I found a dress I really wanted on the bay which was a c0@5t dress to wear as my cousin's bridesmaid one year, got it way cheaper than in the store. The seller stocked all sizes.

I think both colours are lovely and both would go with your theme. If you HAD to have one or the other with no choice I don't think you'd have any reason to worry as they're both lovely.
If you have to choose between them then that gets more complicated lol xx

It might be worth seeing if you can source material in the same colour as the pink. If you can provide material then it shouldn't be a problem for a dress maker to make allowances for a bump.

Oh that's why I prefer to go to the shop to have a look at how they look before buying in store or online because the dresses might look different in person than on a picture
CommentAuthorDanielleS0709
Update.
M0ns00n finally got back to me. The original photos were bad photographery apparently so there is only one colour.
Been online today to have another look and the sizes I need are now out of stock! I contacted them and they said as it's current stock it's likely they will come back in but no gaurantee however she checked some stores out and found some in stock which she could get for me.
Now the problem. I've sent my bridesmaids a message telling them this. One has said to order them 2 has ignored it and talked about something else. If I order them now I don't no what size to order for the one who could be pregnant. She's a size 6/8 so maybe a 10?
I had planned on going to another bridal shop to look but only 2 of them will be able to go. I don't no whether to wait til I go to another shop or order the M0ns00n ones. I suppose I can always return them. Also still worried about the possibility of someone wearing it or people recognising it from M0ns00n

If you're not 100% sure about the dresses and are worried about a guest turning up in the same dress, it's not the bridesmaid dress for your wedding. Also, maybe wait until January with new stock etc?

My MOH is 11 weeks pregnant and due 3 weeks before the wedding. I had already bought her dress but I have now sent it back and ordered her dress a size bigger than she is now so that it will fit her if she puts any weight on. I will also get it altered further if it needs to be. I would suggest getting her to try a dress on now and order her the size bigger or wait until closer to the time and then order one for her as you will know if she is pregnant then xx

I got it online in Feb and she found out she was pregnant in Aug. She tried on the original dress and it just about fit her so the size up definitely will after her pregnancy. I would get the size bigger and I'm sure you will be able to alter it slightly if it needs to be bigger nearer the time x
