    Hi all brides to be!

My wedding is booked for September 2018 I was just wondering when do you think it's time to officially start planning?

I've booked the venue but when shall I start booking other stuff?

    Thanks! X

Hi and welcome. I'd start booking now Nikita. We booked 2 years in advance and a lot of places were already taking bookings and dates were taken.

    Good luck x

Hiya and welcome to the site, You can start planning straight away, I started planning when it was looking like 4 years before a wedding but ended up we brought it forward. You may find though that some venues/service providers may ask you to book closer to the time but no harm in asking and making sure you have what you want.

We booked our venue 2 years in advance and started planning everything else straight away and buying bits and bobs. I'd say now is a bit too early to actually do a lot of things, but definitely spend the time browsing the internet to find lots of inspiration and ideas. Like GF said you can also have a little look at which suppliers you'd like to use as well.

The 2 years are absolutely flying by for us but "wedding" stuff takes up so much of your brain. I'm not sure I could live in wedding land for 3 years, it would drive me crazy! xx

    Hi all,

Thanks for the info! So sooner the better with the big things but little things start doing nearer the time?

We have already booked our venue, we had to due to it being my dream place, and also it gets booked up years in advance!

I only asked as we are pretty much in 2016 in a few years and that will leave me with 2 years to try get everything sorted! Bearing in mind we have just purchased our first property so also trying to do that as well as plan a wedding! It's amazing how much stress a woman goes through isn't it?

But thank you all for your kind comments xx

Hi congratulations on booking your dream venue and welcome to the site!! I booked my venue back in Feb for our wedding 31/12/17 so not far of 3 years in advance, since then I have gone on to book the registrar, a fun casino a photographer, fireworks and I'm currently talking to a lady who does chair covers and decorations etc. I have picked my bridesmaids, started making my invites and I have planned the STD's. I still have loads to do but as you can see I've started chipping away at the list. I say it's never too early to start planning, it gives you more time to find what you really want and a chance to keep an eye out for some great deals (fb wedding and selling pages are great for businesses who provide wedding services promoting some great offers) it also gives you a good length of time to save. Good luck with all your planning!!

Id start now. It gives you the time to plan without it taking over your life. chose one thing to do each month. photographer etc and then you can do it easily without thinking about wedding all day every day. That's what we did. Started properly looking and booking things in Jan 15 for Oct 17 so 2 and a half years

Fun thing of not having a wedding so soon is it gives u plenty of time to budget etc I have worked out we can put away a minimum of 50 pound away a month for ours. Put ideally going to try put 100 minimum away each month so if one month we can't afford as much as others it gives u a bit of leway on the saving x

Wow, I remember joining and thinking I had 2 years until my wedding and now its next year and whizzing round. I echo everything said above, it is never to early to big the bigger things especially if you have your heart set on something in particular. It amazed me how a lot of things were already booked that far ahead. Now I'm left with the smaller things to do and 8 months to achieve them in :-) Hope you enjoy the forum as much as I have, it's been really helpful along the way so far.

Afternoon everyone. Hope you are all well. We have just recently got engaged we have both been married before but neither have had a day that we wanted. Due to wanting the added extras that we didn't have at our previous weddings we have set the date for 14/07/2018 that way we will be able to get what we want for our big day xx

Our wedding is February 2018 and so far we have the venue and my dress done! We know who we're going to for the rings and flowers as well.
I'd say it's never too early really, things get booked up so fast and doing it early takes the stress out of planning it later :) one of my friends is getting married next June and they've barely planned anything, now she's getting herself in a state and stressing about its

    Hi there :)
My wedding is in June 2018, we have booked venue, photographer, cake is sorted, lighting, our dance floor and I have already started making my table centrepieces.
I am a wedding planner myself so I know first hand if you want the best, book them early!
I've also sourced what dress I want for myself and my bridesmaids/flowergirls.
The only thing I'm struggling with is hair/makeup artist.
There is no right and wrong as to when to start, whenever you're ready!
    Enjoy xx

Yay I'm so glad to see a 2018 post :) I'm also a 2018 bride getting married the 26th May 2018, I can't wait!! We booked our Venue February this year and have already spoken to a florist and venue decorator just getting quotes and to possibly make a booking with them. we've also paid a deposit with the registrar and thats about it at the moment. We are trying to get the most important and most expensive bits out of the way first it's so exciting and I could easily get carried away booking stuff but there's plenty of time to do things! I actually looked into booking a musician for our wedding and was told I'm too organised and they don't usually take bookings this early in advance lol, il say just try your luck with a few places, most places now should take bookings there's no harm in being organised. I want the wedding planning processto be as stress free as possible and im sure you do too. The next thing on my list is to get a photographer booked by the end of the year and look into getting some wedding insurance, that's a must thing to do and Iv heard Debenhama are pretty good. Good luck in planning your wedding x

I wear a dress pretty much every day. I'm only 5ft 3 so maxi dresses have always swamped me. I wore a beautiful knee length dress to my graduation last year. It has a petticoat underneath which gives it fullness. I love it and have worn it a few times since.

But I can say shopping for my wedding dress is making me nervous. I am fussy when I go shopping so I know I'm not going to think yes this is the one, I'm more likely to think no chance.
