No harm in getting stuff early. I started buying stuff as soon as we got engaged, that was over 2 years prior to getting married.

I'm the same I keep seeing things at a really good price but oh says not to start buying stuff yet as what I want now might not be the same as what I want closer to the date x

I get married in March 2015 and I have bought almost everything which is risky because I do change my mind quite a lot but with the wedding I said once I pick a colour scheme and theme I am sticking to it so that is what I have done and now I have bought things I have no choice Lol. My colour scheme is silver so at the minute everything is out for Christmas so as soon as Christmas is over I will snap up a few bargains, I don't need too much as I have an event dresser decorating the venue and I am making my own wedding stationery but I am not hesitating in buying things because I am too excited. The only things I am waiting on is the bridesmaid dresses as I dobt want them to fit now then one put on or lose weight and them not fit xxx

I have already chose a colour scheme, which is red. I have brought thank you gifts for everyone, just need to buy mints for favors (which i cant do because they might go rotton). I have brought all the glasses for my sweet table, just need the sweets and chocolate fountain. I'm making my own card box, I was going to try a 3 tier wedding cake style box i have brought everything to make it, just need my OH to help! I have found the most amazing wedding dress, and i cant buy it and when i do come to buy it i bet it will be gone!!! I want to lose at least 2/3 stone before buying my dress, I have about 10/11 months before that! Everything just feels so far away!

    Hi Ashleigh

You seem to be doing well with the planning, when do you plan on buying your dress? I have put a deposit on mine and I am paying it off gradually, once I have paid 50% off they will order the dress in. I am wanting to get it paid asap though because I am worried it will be discontinued before they order it in, slightly out of my hands though as my mum is paying for my dress so its whenever my mum has paid it off. The shop did say if they know it is about to be discontinued they will let us know as early as possible and hopefully my mum will be in a position to pay it up yo 50% so it can be ordered. Good luck with rest of your planning xxx

Im gonna buy my dress in october/november 2014 ... Im getting it off the net, but i am going to try some on at a bridal shop frist to see if it actually would suit me, the one i want is strapless but im not sure about that because most clothes where you can see my shoulders looks terrible! I have man shoulders lmao (you can have strapes added for i think 10 pound more) but it doesnt look as good!)

Have you thought about a halter neck instead of 2 straps apparently halter neck is good for people who don't like their shoulders. I tried some gorgeous halter neck dresses on and I think they make a change from the 2 straps xxx

Definitely no issues with getting started early, especially if you can get a bargain! Just make sure it's things u won't go off or change your mind about in the future, and the time will go really fast anyway,I started on here at 23months and it's now 9months which has gone so fast as will yours x

you are doing well. My h2b is same...it's too early to book the photographer and the entertainment etc. But I just book some stuff anyway lol. Our wedding is july 2016

    So far we have booked:
    The venue
The flowers (i booked..he just smiled and nodded)
    The dress
    The cake
    The venue decoration
    My dress
bought his kilt, jacket and vest
    bought bridesmaids gifts

We have agreed that after christmas we will:
decide on whether or not to book a registrar or a humanist
    Book the entertainment
    book the photographer

The bridesmaids have just about decided on their dresses
I have made and decided on invites

After that it is all the little things and we will be just about organised xx

i had 15 months from when i got engaged to the big day. if you have the money then get stuff booked if you know what you want no point it leaving it all till last minute. i would definitely get your suppliers all booked in now. i have however changed my mind on few things so if you not completely sure on something then there is no harm in waiting. i now have 3 months left to go and im pretty pleased that i got everything early.

trust me the time will soon fly by :) x

    So far we have:

Booked the venue (Everything is happening in the one place)
    Sorted the photographer (BIL's Dad)
phoning to book the registrar on 3rd Jan
    Got my save the dates.

Going to a couple of wedding fayres Jan and Feb
I have an idea of what dress I would like (Until I try them on lol)
Oh has his own kilt anyway so that's sorted
My venue takes a lot of stress out of the day as a lot of tings are included in the package like centre pieces, table plan, menus, place cards :)

Enjoy being so organised - you're entitled to enjoy a nice period of smugness now!! It's nice to take a break though, focus on other things for a while. Why not enrol in an evening course, maybe even wedding related (cake decorating or flower arranging maybe?) to keep yourself busy & still be doing something contributing to the big day.
Of course, don't forget honeymoon planning ;-)
