    Hi ALL,

MY H2B is best man for his brother in 2 weeks time, we are planning on a really nice heartfelt speech with a few jokes in there for good measure!
He will do really well, he loves being in the spotlight, so its not that. Im just wanting to get any advice or tips that we can put into action before hand and then on the day- any examples (good or bad!!) would be ace??

    Thanks Ladies!!
    Danni xx

A few laughs but not in a rude or nasty way will work well. Compliment the bride and her family, take the mick out of the groom but make sure everyone knows he loves groom anyway!

I went to one wedding where the best man started his speech by joking how the bride was now off the market and could all the men in the room hand over the back door key to her house. Before sitting down he had given half the men old keys to bring forward which produced a lot of laughs, but obviously you have to make sure the bride will find that funny!

My OH has been a best man twice, and he did fantastic jobs both times. At his brothers he made a couple of jokes about growing up with his brother, made a couple of comments about some of the blonde moments his wife had had in the years they had been together, but ended the speech commenting on how he had managed to get himself a wife who was funny, kind, beautiful, caring etc, and then said to her she had managed to find a great dress and a Steve MacDonald lookalike!

I can't really remember what he said in the second speech at his best friend but he did comment on how the groom was never particularly romantic, having invited him to their holidays, and he then presented him with a book Romance for Dummies! x
