Although it is personal choice you would think considering the circumstance they would book you in and the vicar would have to honour the weddings that were already booked in... they could be choosier with the others if they are booking then. I mean it's only like if you had booked it with the first vicar a year or two in advance and then they left and the new one took over.

Our Church doesn't have a vicar at the moment, not sure whether they'll have one by our wedding or not either... so no idea what vicar will be marrying us, but not worrying about it as we've been promised that someone will be able to lol

Born in Exeter, lived in Lyme Regis through my childhood/teens and all my family are from the local area. Year in France, a summer in Windsor, then lived in Aylesbury for 3 years to do my nursing, back to Lyme briefly and now I live between Canterbury and Oxted but I'm a West Country-er at heart! x

Thanks for your replies everyone. I will get OH to contact the church lady early next week to see how the interviews went and to get her to hold the dates for us.

I am a kiwi but currently living in Buckinghamshire with OH who is from this area. ( also means more hoops to jump through for me when arranging the wedding!)

Yes kimberley how exciting.. haven't found one yet, I thought a bank holiday would be more popular :/

Donna its the last weekend in the month next year..bank holiday monday is the 31st so the weekend would be sat 29th to monday 31st august.

Soo happy that we have booked our honeymoon.. with a little help from my mum.. I am soo relieved!! Never been soo stressed over anything as I have done deciding on the honeymoon.. glad its booked so now I can forget about it till nearer time and focus on the wedding. .

I seem to have lost interest in wedding planning lately :( has this happened to anyone else too?? Hoping that going dress shopping next month will bring back the excitement

Gemma, I thought bank holiday would be quite popular as well.

I haven't booked our honeymoon but we won't be until next year. Our honeymoon will be combined with a blessing ceremony back home in New Zealand. We will also be asking for money towards the honeymoon instead of gifts when we send the invites out.

My family also want to combine it with a big family reunion as well so that will be interesting as there would then be a lot more people there than I would have had otherwise.

Oooo where are you going Gemma? I was so excited when we booked our honeymoon too :) we're going Mexico

I have up's and downs when it comes to wedding planning, will have times when I'm really into it and times when I don't seem so bothered, I think that's because we have most things sorted now though, so there isn't much to do and really in the grand scheme of things we do have a while yet, so I wouldn't worry, you'll soon be excited and planning again ;)

    Kimberley that sounds lovely

Were going to turkey all inclusive for 10days.. we didn't really have a honeymoon budget and was going to stay in uk and have a week at a log cabin. . But my mum has very kindly given us 1000 towards a honeymoon as well as buying my dress..

We was looking into cape verde but its rainy season. . I know rain is not likely but its very humid..

We was going to wait kimberley too.. currently we are living with the in laws saving for a deposit on a house.. we decided we would do wedding also as not sure when we would be able to afford it once moved out so a honeymoon wasn't on top of our list.. however with the money from my mum we can afford to go after the wedding. . Within 2 days actually . Really glad as I just feel we need some time alone away and our own space.

I hope my wedding mojo comes back soon... I have just got back from my friend's (bridesmaids)house and she was actually a wedding planner/supervisor at the hotel were getting married at.. she is a godsend as I dont really know what I am doing..

    Xx

I think we will go away for a few days just after the wedding. Just something small in the uk.
Then we will go to New Zealand 6 months later as it will be march/April time then so our annual leave will tick over to a new year so we can have more time there. (Take some from one year and some from the next)

I want to share our news! I can't remember if it was this thread or the 2015 brides thread but figured you would all see it anyway (will post on that one too) but some of you might remember that I was getting a little upset that we weren't going to France for our honeymoon. It's a place that means a great deal to us; I've lived there, first holiday as a couple there etc etc. Anyway, our bestman started chatting on fb about details, plans etc and we thought ok, maybe bring it up subtly as he's in wedding mode and the answer was......... He was bluffing! WE ARE GOING TO FRANCE FOR OUR HONEYMOON!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D we couldn't be more thrilled if we tried!!!!!! I know it might not seem like the dream honeymoon for some but it is truly our most favourite place and we will have the most wonderful time and utterly happy soaking up the French culture, cheeses, wines and sun :) YAY!!!!!

On an unrelated note, our MOH has just announced she's pregnant and due next March which means we won't have to worry about dressing a bump for the wedding day and the only thing we need to do is move the hen do that was going to be at the beginning of April but that's absolutely no problem. We are more relieved that she's pregnant now so we don't have to worry about altering dresses and her travelling or potentially not being there as she's too far gone! :) xx

We booked out chair covers a while ago, a friend of a friend is just starting out as a wedding planner so doing chair covers really cheaply. It only costing us £108 for 60 chair and sashes that includes her travel, fitting and taking down the next day the offer was far too good to refuse :). Xx

    Clair-that's a pretty good deal.

My news is the OH has finally chosen the colour for our day. We are going with royal blue. I gave him a few options, and that's what he chose. Also it matches my engagement ring which has a ceylonese sapphire in it.

Hey ladies! Thanks for the warm welcome. Youve made me feel better. I do feel like a bitof a bridezilla at the moment.

Sorry for the rant but need to talk to people that may understand.

So we got engaged in June and knew exactly what date we wanted the wedding. The 8th is my nans birthday who I sadly lost last year. So thought it would be nice to have the wedding on that date. We booked things pretty quickly. Anyway, my brother and his fiancée got engaged over 2 and a half yrs ago. As soon as I set my date she got jealous and said 'well we have decided we are going to get married in july', a few weeks before me.i was a little annoyed but oh well. My sister in law is catholic and my brother is church of England. She wanted to get married in her family church and when the went for the meeting with the priest he said my brother needed to convert and their son needed to be baptised. My brother refused outrigt. So she turned around and said 'oh, your church is nice'. Next thing I know they have booked the same church as me.

Am I being a b*$!h for being annoyed? All my family are going to be at theirs first and then its gonna be samey when it comes to mine.

Soon to be Mrs Hartley 8th August 2015!

I can understand why you are annoyed... however don't let it get to you, noone will be comparing the weddings and although it's in the same Church it won't be exactly the same, all the little touches will be different. I understand your main problem is more the closeness to your wedding, but a lot of families all get married in the same Church (all of my family have gotten married in the same Church.... well apart from me as we live out of the area now. But noone has ever thought the weddings were the same)

Just enjoy planning your wedding hun, however I would be wary of telling your brother and sister in law too many details as it sounds like she might steal some idea's.

At the end of the day you are both getting married because you love your partners and that is what is important

We've just had to have a culling session with our bridesmaids.... I must admit that although it's not nice having to tell them, I feel frigging awesome because now we only have 2 bridesmaids each!!! A sister and a friend :D because our church is so diddy and cute, taking 6 bridesmaids up the aisle just isn't going to work so we've cut my cousin who is lovely, and an old school friend who ignores us and chucks all her problems on us. Felt abit bad about my cousin so she's going to do a reading instead and is more than happy luckily :) it also means we personally only have to fund 2 bridesmaids dresses as the other 2 are paying for theirs which means we can afford to have the dresses we want now which is great!! xx

Aww Catherine your entitled to be a lot excited it's fantastic news. Shame you had to drop two bms. It sounds like it's worked out anyway.

My sister is just starting to plan my hen weekend and surprise surprise she was waiting on three people responding only happens to be my sils. So sent them off a little reminder and they came back and said just tell her we can't come, they couldn't even be bothered to let her know sums them up really. I'm. to bothered they can't make the weekend I only really invited them so they couldn't say I never, I know that sounds so petty but that's what they have reduced me too.

Going shopping with my sister (BM) best friend and my mum on Saturday to check out two florists one happens to be the venues preferred supplier so fingers crossed they are reasonably priced :-)

I'm thinking the florist will be the one we go for they stuff they do that I've seen online is stunning, and of they weren't great the venue wouldn't endorse them so to speak.

Hope tomorrow is a good one for you too :-)

Glad the culling went well, sounds like you were better off not having the ''friend'' and it's great that your cousin understands and is looking forward to doing a reading.

Elizabeth, sounds like everything has worked out okay for you as well

When are you having your hen? We haven't started planning mine yet

My weekend away will be in June, we thought it was best to start planning ASAP so everyone has plenty of time to save and know what's going on. I'm not to know where we are going or what we will be doing.

I don't know how far we will be going lol. Im kinda scared at the thought of it as I like to organise and be in control of everything but ive let my sister have free rein so to speak ive told her what I would like and a couple of places id love to go so we shall see what she comes up with.

I emailed my SIL a list of their side of the family and she has just told me We need to invite all these extra people I asked Oh who they were and he was like emm don't know so ive said fair enough to an evening invite but we are not paying for a meal for people I don't know never mind ones he doesn't know and they are his family, Can see this becoming a big issue though but im sticking to my grounds we have a fairly lavish budget but when Im not inviting all my cousins all day I don't see why he should invite people he doesn't even know. AM I wrong?

Not wrong at all, we've had people telling us we must invite 'so-and-so' and when I ask why I get the 'it's traditional' reply. I'm sorry but I refuse to invite people I don't know for a free meal and booze up! Stand your ground!

Ditto Catherine, I've had a few people not complain so much as be surprised I am not inviting great aunt *** or second cousin *** who are people I have only ever seen during other family weddings. I think they know better to not complain.
