Lovely :) I especially love the one against the tree, but they're all fab.

How did you feel having them taken? That's one of the reasons I want to have the shoot, because I think we'll feel a bit silly having them done so if we have a shoot before the wedding it might help us get used to it. My sister is our photographer so I might be cheeky and see if we can get a couple of shoots in before then ;) depending on how busy she is

Actually, although you feel a but self conscious to start with, it becomes very natural and you go with the flow. It was really fun and you forget about everything! Do it if you can :)

We are def having at least one session, I asked if she would do one and she is using it as an excuse to take us out and get photo's somewhere she has seen and wants to get some pictures anyway :) Hopefully she'll then think of us next time she wants to try something new ;)

She got some lovely pictures of me and my puppy a few months back

I think I've found my bridesmaid dress, they both love them and I can get them for £24 each... they'll need some added extra's too them, will have to buy undershirts for them and I've been told to go for one's that are around the £25-£30 mark so they aren't itchy and we'll want to add a satin sash to them I think as well (will check with the girls as to what they think about that)

Just need to decide when to order them though.

OOooooo I just found this thread. I'm brand new to this site, getting married Aug 10th 2015, been engaged since June 13th last year and we so far have Venue (Humanist Ceremony/Meal/Reception all under one roof), Wedding Dress, Photographer and Caterer, we've also got a chat with the Humanist Celebrant this Tues to discuss everything and will hopefully have that all sorted asap. :)

MrsBurton keep looking you will find something that suits them and that you like, you do need something that suits them though otherwise no matter how much you like the dress it won't look nice on the day :/

Welcome to the thread Victoria, sounds like you have lots booked already

Oooo what idea's did you get MrsKirkby2b?

We went to a wedding fayre at our venue today, didn't see much, but like we said to the guy who manages our band (who was there) it's weird because we've already booked most things so we walked around thinking... don't need that, don't need that ect. wanted to speak to the new wedding coordinator too, but as we were waiting for her we realised the people she was talking too were booking their wedding and lots of people were waiting, so we thought we'd leave as we only wanted to introduce ourselves and didn't actually have much to say.

We hadn't considered a photo booth before as it just didn't cross our minds so that is definitely something to think about if our budget can stretch to it.
Had a good chat with a florist about options, I wanted tulips originally but now we are having an August wedding it's going to be tricky, she suggest calla lillies so I'm researching into options :)

We are doing gerberas - Love them and I can make them into half decent bouquets which saves 100's of £'s as florists charge through the earth! We didn't want a photobooth as we thought that's so generic - Everyone has them and thought it soooo boring (no offence to anyone else but we don't wana follow the pack on this, ditto with the sweetie cart as they are everywhere!) so we've found a caricaturist who will go round throughout the evening drawing cartoon portraits of everyone, plus a great favour for them too :D x

Thanks for the welcome ladies, MrsKirby2b we're planning on having a photobooth with alice in wonderland props (this is our theme) and the last wedding I went to had a booth too, they're so much fun and you can get an option of extra prints for guests to stick in a guest book to sign :-)

Your bouquets look great Catherine, not sure I could put them together like that. Are you doing buttonholes yourself as well?

What do you think of the tiara?

I'm not having a photobooth as personally as much fun as I think they can be, I don't want one at my wedding-I just don't like them for weddings, we are having digital camera's on the tables for guests to take pictures with though. I am also having a candy cart as I think they can look lovely and the one we have booked is stunning (also we don't have pudding on our buffet so that along with the cake is our sweet options)

Had a breakthrough in terms of invite design last night, must concentrate on work today and not be tempted to keep sketching things out. Can you tell I'm excited?!

Photo booth option still in discussion, we figure it's a lot of money and the photographer we like is a little over budget so would rather have him and no photo booth. We will probably use the wedding pics app to get people to capture silly ones.

Not sure over the tiara now actually.. Trying to visualize it and not sure. Can you give me a couple of days to mull it over? Unsure about the gold bits! x

Another option for your photo booth is you can create the rig yourself using a backdrop and an iPad in an area that has good lighting. But it depends on how well you trust your guests with an iPad. It would have to be hooked up to a mains but I have seen it done and it looks good. If you go to Wedding Booth App dot com it explains how it can be done. A neat trick for creating good light distribution for a really professional look is to have a light behind some white card or thick paper so you don't get sharp shadows.

Of course I can Catherine, no rush... I don't want it any-more myself as not sure if it's too big, but I haven't asked anyone else if they want it yet, I'll probably stick it on the bay if you decide you don't want it. No point rushing into a decision as if you are not happy with it then you'll just end up in the same position as me. I'm sure it'll find a good home ;)

Well I've officially finished 2nd year at university today and to to celebrate, I've been in and had a wonderful time yet again at my dress shop!! I went in to try on veils to see which length to order from a certain veil lady who does amazing work - Definitely going with the full length 126" as it looks beautiful with my dress but I went for a different style I thought - Completely plain but with waterfall crystals on it to pick up the detailing on the belt!! The only problem is that I don't think having a musical note veil would really work now as the detailing would look right on it but, we did start chattering about sleeves as I want sleeves put on and eventually we came to the conclusion that I am going to have a lace overlay over the top bodice bit with sleeves rather than a bolero or just sleeves added. The lady who helped me pick my dress knows me to a tee - Picked out my dress, knew exactly which veil I'd go for before I arrived AND knew exactly what I meant when I was telling her our ideas after veil trying - It's guna look goooooorgeous!!!!!!!!! I have attached a couple of photos of my fiancee in the dress as the smaller size in ivory doesn't fit me whereas the burgundy does but I wanted to get an idea of what it would look like!! Going to be a vintage, classic look but very me.... PLUS, I still love my dress.... Result :D xx

I think that might be because there isn't much we can do right now though.... looking forward to when I can start properly thinking about hen do's... well not really thinking just talking about dates and who's coming as my bridesmaids are organising my proper one and some ladies from work are doing me on for the work crew ;)

I think a few of us will be in the same position, but it's dull isn't it.

Although saying that, I had my first wedding related dream last night.. hoping that I don't have 14 months of these to look forward to :/

It was all just silly things, we went to the venue and they had us in two different rooms, when we went through to the other room (after the meal) we realised his parents had sat at the wrong table and were in the other room, I told them they were in the wrong place and should have been at the top table and she was just like ''ahhh well it doesn't matter'' my fiancé told me he didn't think my dress was anything special so I was upset with him and then I realised I was wearing a bra with black straps, I asked my mum if it looked really bad and she told me it did and that she wondered why I was wearing it but didn't say anything because she didn't want to upset me... then we went home where I still was really mad at oh for what he said about my dress.

Funny thing is when I told my fiancé about it I said how I think the bra thing was the weirdest as him saying about my dress is something I can see me worrying about (obviously I want him to love it) and he said well, the thing is how both are mums were in your dream is how they can sometimes be so I can see where you got that from.

We've been trying to pace ourselves but it's sooooo hard!! Now that we've finished uni for the year though we can concentrate fully on getting everything done before the final push in September. It's scary to think that this time next year and we will be graduated and on the final weeks to the wedding eek! We've sent off loads of deposits last week to confirm everything which makes us feel a million times calmer now that it's confirmed. Arranged to see a florist on Monday - it's a wholesaler just outside Exeter but they also make up wedding flowers for a small fee. We think it's going to be great because we can go in with all our ideas and we can actually help make up our flowers next year but at wholesale price which helps the budget. It's a compromise I think - no florist fees but still involved. We've also decided that I'll definitely be making the cake - current idea is to test drive it on Debbie's Grandma's birthday next week to see how it turns out! We are thinking a 2 tier, buttercream, bunting round the edge of both cakes and on the top - 2 sticks with bunting saying just married or something similar! Our fans have arrived and although they aren't as big or as high quality as we thought, they will certainly do the job so at least that's bridesmaids pressies sorted! Biggest thing though is that we've had time to sit down and sit on buffet and drinks ideas at the hotel..... For our drinks we've asked for non-alcoholic mojitos (arrivals), alcoholic and non alcoholic fruit punch (for the meal)' elderflower with cava with just elderflower for non alchies (toasts) and lots of jugs of iced pink lemonade with strippy straws (during buffet). Then, for our buffet, we've enquirer as to whether we can have a big English cream tea and a cheese board instead of choosing from the normal buffet options so hopefully we can have scones, jams, clotted cream, strawberries and our jugs of pink lemonade brought out in the evening!!! A bit different and much more summery and light :) xx

I'm keeping fingers crossed for you Catherine :) I really hope they do let you have it, I don't see why not though... most venue's are quite good like that :)

I would mention having the cream tea's to my fiancé as our venue do afternoon tea (not on the buffet menu but like yours I'm sure they would if we asked) BUT I know he has his heart set on the cold meats, salads and freshly baked bread (oh and our pork pie cake) for the evening and we're having our cake (which should be big enough to feed 200 plus when we have 100 people coming) and the candy buffet... so I don't think we'll need scones as awesome as it'd be ;)

I cannot wait to see your pictures from your wedding, I am slightly gutted I'll be away for it, but then that's silly as chances are you won't be uploading pictures straight after the wedding anyway lol.

Hehe, I doubt it.... Sadly there's no automatic upload from the secret camera inside my bouquet LOL ;) apparently our honeymoon is being organized for us and we have no idea where or when just that it's probably going to be a week. We are extremely grateful about not being able to decide as we had set our hearts on France and were looking forward to planning it all..... When we asked, he said definitely not France and we are a bit devastated. Any ideas on how to broach the subject? Of course we are so grateful for it but we should get a little choice shouldn't we? :/

Could you not have half and half Donna? Half cold meats etc and half cream tea maybe as a compromise? Fingers crossed we can arrange something - I know they've said that anything is possible and just a case of chatting to them about what we want so hopefully we can. We are now on tenterhooks waiting to hear back from the church as it's barely a month away from knowing if it's a yes or no to marriage. The closer it gets, the more nervous we get! We want this so much :(

If we get the church wedding, it's going to be at 2pm like yours Elizabeth. If we end up having the marriage, it will be 12pm and then 2pm blessing wherever we decide. You are at 2pm aren't you? Don't be jealous though, yours sounds amazing too! I know my MIL is jealous of you marrying in Scotland as her Daddy was Scottish.. We haven't persuaded anyone into kilts yet though LOL.

Hmmm - yeah that's an awkward one as although it's great that he's doing it for you, you already had idea's of what you wanted :/ could you possibly do France as a 1st anniversary trip instead? (that way you have longer to save up and do exactly what you want)

I don't think it would work Catherine as we'd end up being sweet heavy then with the cake and the sweets as well.... as much as I have a sweet tooth I don't want to make everyone sick haha. Especially people who have just been invited to the evening, they might want a bit more savoury stuff to fill themselves. If they've said anything is possible that's a good sign :)

ooo a month, seems like a long time but will fly by.... at least then you will know, I really hope you get the Church wedding

Ah I see.. You'll have to a cream tea for breakfast then! ;)

I don't know what to do on the honeymoon, we also have the same problem with our hen weekend. He wants to organize drinking and stuff like that but that's just not us - we'd much prefer a quiet day that everyone will enjoy like go and have a spa morning, come back to my parents house, have a BBQ and garden games maybe... It's difficult when it's being done out of the goodness of people's hearts :(

We aren't too stressed waiting yet.... Give me 3 weeks and that will soon change lol!!

I know it's a difficult situation as you don't want to hurt their feelings and it's all being done with the best intentions, but I think you need to sit him down and explain that you have certain idea's and what you want for your honeymoon and hen and that although you really appreciate the effort and the thought ect. you would like a bit more input into it as this is something you only do once in your life.

Yes, precisely.. It's just wording it right so he doesn't get offended as that's the last thing we want to do :/

Hey ladies, not really been doing much wedding things recently. . Been looking at booking our honeymoon but it is driving me insane :/ I find it defenetly more stressful than wedding planning.. think we may have settled on a week away to sal island in the cape verde islands. Has anyone been??

Hopefully planning on going dress shopping sat 19th July.. had other dates planned previously however have had to cancel through family things.. hopefully this day will go ahead.

Got my save the dates sorted and started to hand them out. It seems early but we are getting married on a bank holiday weekend so I wanted to let everyone know before booking holidays etc. The save the dates was bargain.. I got 20 personalised save the date cards free and I have spent 2.99 on little magnets so that they can go on peoples fridges :) I can get 20 more too as h2b mum can get more printed at really good quality through reprographics at the school she works and this will only work out 5p per sheet.

Everyone ideas sound fantastic, I need to get my wedding mojo back, I seem to have lost it recently :(

    X

We have an engagement shoot tomorrow that I had completely forgotten about. We bought my engagement ring from an independent jewellers in our home town and they gave us a voucher for a free shoot including 2 prints. Waiting to see what else he will try and sell us, but still that's exciting!

we've just returned from our engagement shoot and I wish I could say it was a fun experience but it was pretty knackering really..... We've learnt the hard way why people say never work with dogs or children! It was lovely to get some pictures of us in Lyme as we won't be there on the wedding day though, even if the dog was a pain!!
