I did wonder why you had your oh's grandma's ring, but it does look stunning with your engagement ring, like they were made for each other :)
Just got a text from fiance saying he's been in a meeting so on his way now, I wish he'd told me he had this meeting earlier, I would have gone on the crosstrainer, but decided since I've been on it Sunday, Monday, Tuesday I'd rest today and spend a bit more time with him.... ahh well a rest day won't kill me, I have a habit of really going for it exercise wise and then letting it die off, if I make sure I have plenty of rest days hopefully I'll keep it up... want to make sure I'm nice and fit for the wedding.
Still undecided whether to try and lose some weight or not... part of me is wishing I'd not gone dress shopping until I'd lost the weight I wanted, but then a bigger part of me just loves that dress and doesn't care.
CommentAuthorCatherineR
Yep that's why. Initially Debbie was going to use it as her wedding band but because her engagement ring has a twist in it, it would either need to be shaved down or have a groove put in her Grandma's ring and neither option appeals to her so that's why I'm using it :) don't want to ruin either ring tbh! It's also a nice way to be welcomed into the family as I'm taking their name and means that I'm truly accepted by them all plus I know her Grandma adores me anyway so it feels very right for all of us :)
Relax for a day hun - You've got a few months to go still ;)

New bride to be joining the convo! We're getting married 28th August 2015, which nobody has mentioned yet!! It's the Friday of Bank Holiday weekend :) I'm so excited - literally!! Visited our venue last night for a wedding open evening and I'm still in love with it - thank goodness!! Church booked! Dress ordered! Bridesmaids asked! (And accepted!) Budget - suffering!!
Ha ha :)
Lovely to read where you're all up to with plans etc.. Comforting to know I'm not actually too premature with all my planning!

Yey Vicky :) i thought I was being a little premature when I started planning but when you actually realise what needs to be done it makes sense to. I don't want to be rushing around like a headless chicken next year. X

I'm the same had heart to heart with h2b about getting things booked and organised last night didn't help I didn't finish work till ten but we have done a list of things we have booked and things we need to get/sort and we are doing better than we realised we will have the whole thing paid for in 7 months after getting the last few bits done we have put them into months to make it easyer next month its bride accessories haven't a clue what to get but h2b said we should start with that first. On the down side though his work are making people redundant and its his team over this month and next he keeps telling me not to worry as we have insurance with the mortgage to cover him if he looses his job and the morgage will be paid but its still really stressful
follow your heart and you're dreams will come true
I haven't been around for abit as my h2b ended up in a&e this weekend :( We had planned to go to a wedding fair on Sunday, but H2B was in agony with what appeared to be an abscess. We went to A&E thinking we'd be there 3-4 hours max & ended up staying the night!! H2B had to have a general anistetic & have the abscess drained, we got home at 5:30am Monday!! Nightmare!!
Anyway we set ourselves a target at the beginning of March to book the transport, photographer & pay £300 off of our venue by the end of March. We are ahead of schedule as we booked the cars & paid £200 instead of the £100 deposit they wanted, I've just paid £300 off of our venue, so just the photographer left (which we already have the deposit for). So if our savings carry on as they are we should be able to pay another £300 minimum off the venue by the end of March :)
We're going away this weekend to a chalet in Devon with a hot tub on the balcony, so hopefully the weather stays nice.

Are you all having a videographer? I had talked my H2b into having one as we can get a good one for £390 from guests arriving until third dance but Alans just said we don't really need one (HE drives me nuts at times lol)

CommentAuthorDonnaH39
I'm not fussed on a videographer myself, so we're not having one. I can see the appeal more then I used to, like having moments like the grooms face when he see's you walk in ect. and the first dance, but then I also think-but will you watch it over and over again... like hundreds of pounds worth? I'm more of a photo person myself.
Video's seem to be a thing MIL loves, I also remember my mum filming all our holidays and birthday parties.... it always reminds me of an older generation thing, as I think they were around when they became really accessible and they haven't got over them yet despite moaning about them not being that good. MIL is perfect example, she spent ages when we were in Disney land moaning that when her sons were younger they missed out on bits of the holiday because they were busy filming their sons rather then enjoying the moment and that they never watch the films now.... then in the next breath went on to say how she wished they'd brought the video camera
Sorry off on a tangent there lol, as having one at your wedding is a completely different thing to that.
CommentAuthorElizabethF49
Its one thing we really cant agree on. I get what you mean especially the holiday but and missing out BUT with a wedding there will be so much going on that we will miss.
I love the photos though and even if we only watch the dvd once I think it will be worth it and also our son could watch it in later years

Thankyou for the well wishes, he was told to take 2 weeks off work but he returned the next day. He is also supposed to get his dressing changed daily at the doctors, he went the 1st day & asked them to show me how to do it as he won't be returning he is a nightmare for going to the doctors anyway, he has to be practically dying to go.
We still haven't decided on the videographer, I do think I'd like one but it will be something we'll leave until last minute, if we have the spare cash. When we were kids I used to go to my friends house & watch one of her aunts wedding videos, they filmed everything. The church, then the evening do which gets funnier towards the end, after they'd clearly drunk a lot. If we do get one they charge around £400-£500 & our church will also add a £150 licensing fee on top, so quite a lot.

Had a very productive couple of weeks - Got my ring chosen, hopefully found my dress, visiting our 2 favourite venues on the 27th March although we do have a preferred, chosen our Ceilidh band for the reception and hopefully got our photographer decided on... Now it's just meeting them all at the end of March, making sure we like them and if we do, secure them and pay the deposit! Eek! Once we've done that, most of the big things have been sorted :) x

I have a videographer booked, it IS an expense that we umm'ed and ahh'ed over, but having spoken to our married friends those that had one love that they can look back at their day and those that didn't really wish they had. So, we found one we both liked and put the deposit down - it's not cheap by any means but the ones that were available on our date were either even more expensive than the £945 we've been quoted for full day coverage OR their work was looked kinda poor.
It is one of those things that I'm glad we found the money for, but totally understand why people don't have them too! x
CommentAuthorCatherineR
Well we've just got back from the shop who have offered to get my dress for the cheaper price and WOW! The lady was the nicest woman I've come across in the business, we feel so comfortable ordering my dress through her. She was so knowledgeable and kind but didn't push her products/sale down our throats so the ball is totally in our court! The best part - She will do my dress for £999 at the longer length, with sleeves and the corset so if I wanted the extra length on the train, the most I'd have to pay extra is about £60 which is even better! All I have to do is hope that when I go to try it on again tomorrow, I still love it! Very successful day so far :)
I'd like a video but OH isn't overly fussed so we are going to pay a bit more on some decent photo's.. Compromise is a wonderful thing! xx

How is everyone getting on?
My friend bought we a little wedding planning book which is lovely but ive planned most things so a bit late but still thoughtful all the same. She also got us a wedding keepsake book and I love it its quite quirky suits us well. I bought the guest book ages ago and she seen it and got the other books to match :)
My bridesmaid travel/make up bag arrived during the week and its bigger than I first thought but means if its not full Ican fill it with crumpled paper (minds went blank to what type is actually is lol). As my only BM is my sister I am going to fill the bag with miniature toiletries, and other bits and may be able to fit her wedding jewellery for the day in it but I may give her this before then. Ive also found little glass coasters that I am going to get for mother/father of the bride and one for Brdesmaid.

One of my friends has hacked me off big time.
The plan was that H2b and our ds would be in OH's family tartan and all the other uys in the wedding party in a purple tartan but she has just told me that it will look stupid... Personally I think that if OH wants to wear HIS own kilt to his own wedding he should and DS having the same surname can wear it too. The kilts cant be hired only made and Im afraid im not paying to buy kilts for one day.
Do you think it will look stupid If oh and ds are in different tartans to the rest of the guys? I think as its OUR day OH and DS are allowed to stand out from the other too, Its not just all about ME

We got our menu as well which looks utterly delectable and I know we will enjoy that but it kind of feels like an outer body experience like it's happening to someone else! When we get back tomorrow, I think we'll call up and ask them and pay the full amount so we know it's done and paid for xx

I've chosen my hairstyle and hairpins for my wedding hair so a good week here and found the cutest little cake topper too!! How's everyone else coming along? xx

Im just sitting listening to our wedding band. Knowing we have made the best decision about hiring them, They are the most expensive but so worth it
I know who we are getting our rings made from but that will be next year. I know what flowers I want I just need to find someone to do them. Going to see the florist local to my venue so they can deliver them to the venue or I can pick them up the day before.
Going to try and get to see the coach companies while Connor is off nursery over the easter holidays.

Welcome to the thread Clair
Our band are brilliant too Elizabeth
We're going to be about a grand or so down for the wedding now :( as most things are already booked for the wedding it means the honeymoon will be what suffers I think :( also the dress I prefer and everyone else seems to agree from pictures (everyone else being you lot and people on another forum) is £500 more expensive then the other... so now I don't know if I can afford it.
CommentAuthorthefuture:Mrs_Hurren
Hi Clair you will be getting married the day after me. I wish I could book something else but I'm at that awkward stage ATM where I can't do nothing else. My bridesmaids are my biggest worry as I can't think about their dresses till jan at earliest.

Donna I'd say don't scrimp on your dress you can cut back other places but the dress is the main focal point and you will have pictures forever you don't want to look back and think that was my second choice dress.
Thefuturemrshurren why do you need to wait till jan for bridesmaid dresses? I'm going in June to hopefully get mine organised.
I've came to a sort of stand still, oh can't agree we need a videographer so don't know what to do about it as I've always wanted one.
