We are getting married on the 19th August 2015. Cant wait :)

So far we have booked the Venue and paid the deposit
    Booked the church
Asked Bridesmaids and Ushers to do us the honor of being party of the wedding party
Made all of the Save the Date Cards
Bought the Guest book (Ready for personalisation :) )
Bought the coloring bits for the kids goody bags
and will be booking the DJ this week.

I had my first experience of trying on wedding dresses on Saturday just gone. What a strange moment. I have spent my entire adult life staying away from wearing all white and big puffy dresses and from being the center of attention. to suddenly trying to find a dress which covers all of these points.
Hopefully my next appointment this coming Saturday will go a bit better. hehe

Ohh Donna what you thinking for your hen do? My sister is organising mine.

I want to lose some weight too, I've chosen my dress but will get re measured early next year. I love my dress and know I won't change my mind as it's very me.

We asked SIL how she would feel about asking her oldest who will be a few months short of 12 at time of wedding to be an usher she was over the moon but a week after we said she still hadn't mentioned it so we were out for her you guests. Irradiated and she said she forgot to ask our nephew wtf how can you forget something like that.

They are going to kick up a stink as the venue only has two family rooms and we have one for the whole weekend and my friend has just booked the other one. We told them numerous times if they want to stay they need to book ASAP as there is only one other room big enough for them without using z beds, there is only 5 kids going to our wedding, our ds SIL 3 boys and my best friends girl who is our sons best friend. Really can't be bothered with that argument.

I was at a wedding fayre yesterday and got some great ideas but means we are spending slightly more on something's but oh is happy to go along with it :-)

I've had a few quotes back for flowers and one of them seems really good so I'm probably going to book her x

Not sure what we're doing for the hen do, my bridesmaids are organising it and going to surprise me, but they sent me a massive list of things to say if I def didn't want certain things and to say what my top 7 were as well.... just to give them some idea's, but still none the wiser.

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare, like you say how do you forget that?

Ahh well, at least you warned her about booking, it's not your fault/problem. Hopefully there won't be any fall out because of it.

We're spending a little more on things then what originally we planned to.... in fact a lot more overall, but we can afford it and are both happy so can't complain :)

I think my sis is organizing a weekend do for the younger ones then a tribute night for my aunties etc in Glasgow. My sis has asked my ideas but the rest is up to her and she will let me know what I need to know but nothing else lol.

Yeah that's what I thought how do you forget something so important Oh's family drive me nuts they are so inconsiderate and only think of themselves, thankfully im marrying him and not is family :)

They can say what they like about the rooms I will simply say I told you to book it early as there was only one other room its not my fault someone else booked it. Im hoping its enough for them not to stay and they stay at the cheaper hotel down the road as they want t stay the night before but they will stress me out big time.

We are the same we have a budget but its creeping up but nothing we cant afford and like you say we are happy too. :)

Haha you sound like me, oh's family will be stopping in a hotel and I'm really hoping they go for a cheaper one and not where we're getting married as I'm getting ready there in the morning so would rather they were closer to him for getting ready and also it's a small place (only 8 rooms) so I'm hoping noone else stops the wedding night so it's just us two

Has anyone got wedding insurance yet? I need a little help....
I've just looked on my-w£dd!ng!nsur@nce & am a little unsure of what we actually need!!
I've gone for £10,000 cancellation & expenses cover, £3,000 supplier deposits (unsure which value to choose), 2,000,000 public liability, £1,500 transport, £2,000 wedding attire, £1,500 photographer, £1,500 rings/cake/flowers, venue decoration £5,000, £5,000 personal accident, legal expenses £5,000 & I've added £1,000 wedding documents but i'm unsure if I actually need this?

Donna that's not crazy at all, I'm unsure whether to book us girls in at my local salon (under 2 min walk) for hair/nails/beauty maybe even a relaxing massage for me :) or to get a mobile hairstylist & make up artist.

We went with them and went for their sapphire package.

I was having a panic about the cancellation not being enough but then someone pointed out that the cancellations wouldn't have to cover everything in our budget as some things wouldn't be effected by the venue cancelling.

Lol Donna I booked my hair and make up at the start if the month the girl done a trial run for my engagement party and I loved it so booked her :-)

Our insurance is with w3dding9lan cost £45 can't remember what's exactly included but it covered what we need and a little bit more.

Donna you sounds scarily like me, i had the same panic about cancelation I thought it had to cover the whole cost then oh looked at it and said we didn't need insurance at £100 we only needed a cheaper one to cover what we need lol.

My SIL has asked our nephew to be our usher and he has agreed to do it. I am so happy he said yes and that the final person for our bridal party :-)

So there is me, Alan and our son Connor who is page boy.
My sister is my one and only bridesmaid
Bestman is Alan's life long mate
Usher 1 is Alan's other best mate
    Usher 2 is our nephew

Then there my parents and Alan's mums. I've not missed anyone off have I?

I am super excited I've found a woman who can do my flowers and buttonholes cheaper and had a quote to get Connors a kilt made the same as Alan's as it's not one that can be hired and they have given us a great guide price but we need to get Connor measure.

Last night I was scouring the net for cakes and I've found the one lol

What a great couple of days I've had wedding wise :-) going to the Scottish wedding show on Sunday (this is a massive one) and I'm super excited for it xx

Haha - I'm glad I'm not alone then :) the wedding insurance thing isn't very clear is it? But at least we both had people put our minds in the right direction.

I feel good getting things planned, my friend has told me her brother got engaged this weekend and is hoping to get married in September, I'm sure they'll have a lovely wedding and it's what they want but I'll be honest I wouldn't be comfortable getting married this year :/ waiting a year means we can save up quite a bit more as well ;)

Sounds like you've got everyone covered, sounds lovely too

    We're having

My son as a page boy
Fiancé's life long friend as best man
His brothers as ushers (there's two of them)
My brother is giving me away
My two close friends as bridesmaids

Might ask my bridesmaids daughter to be a flower girl, but undecided yet-don't want them to feel like they have to say yes and they might prefer her to just stay with her Dad, they're all good friends though so will be a big part of the day either way :)

We still need someone to do flowers, glad you've found a good price

We have a couple of idea's for cakes but nothing decided on yet :)

I'm a little jealous of the kilts, I think they look great and my fiancé has said if he was Scottish or if my family were Scottish and not Irish he would have had them.

I've been thinking about bridesmaids hair, they keep telling me not to decide until I've picked my dress and sorted my hair though.... which I suppose is sensible lol

We haven't really got anything planned until early march when we go to a wedding fair.
I have emailed a few photographers & am awaiting their replies.
We're having dinner at H2B's sisters on Sunday so will be asking her if she'd like to be a bridesmaid, I'm thinking it will be a no though as she is being maid of honour twice this year & isn't enjoying it, although maybe being bridesmaid is less stressful!!
H2b's other sister is our maid of honour & 2 nieces are our bridesmaids, our other niece said no but we were expecting that as she is very tomboyish & hates any attention on her. I was actually dreading her saying yes as I know after buying her dress, shoes, etc she would have refused to take part on the day.

I have been having a play around with different invite designs but haven't been satisfied yet, I saw one I really liked on eb@y so I've ordered one & will hopefully photocopy it & print my own.

    Have you made any plans?

I'm off to the Scottish wedding show on Sunday, looking forward to,it. The woman I've saw the flowers with is going so hopefully I can get some sort of discount.

I'm going to a flower wholesaler this morning with my friend just to have a look as they do loads of different things and if I can get my flowers cheaper bY DIY i might just to that.

Hope you have a great weekend x

I've decided the DIY route is not for me well for the flowers, I will wait a few months and go back to them, had a great day my friend who has offered to make the cake was with me and we had a play about with cake boards etc and I think I now know what cake I want just not sure if I want her to do it (I'm very picky and it's easier to be critical to someone you don't know than someone you are close to)

I can't wait to have a chilled out weekend when that will be I don't know next week it's my sisters engagement party.

I really enjoyed going to my venues wedding fayre as it was all local suppliers it was small and intimate was busy but not too busy and I managed to speak to everyone x

Very new on UKBride, (about 45 mins) found this thread and thought I would say HELLO.

No exact date yet but looking at August 2015, as haven't booked a venue yet.

and another wedding twin. How exciting.

Don't worry Rebecca, not everyone plans their wedding in as much advance as some of us are lol, but if you have something specific in mind venue wise I would start looking at booking, as our venue were holding wedding fayres and gave us three Saturdays in August 2015 that they were free, we wanted the 1st or the 8th as it worked out better for us to then have a honeymoon after, 2 days after we called to check the dates were still free and the 1st had gone, so we put our names down for the 8th and she said it was the last Sat in August gone once we'd done that.

Awww I'm sure you will :)

Make sure you report back when you do and you have your date. We'll want details lol.

We're having a complete change of colour scheme, which is going to completely change the feel of the wedding. I wasn't comfortable with the dark green (not sure if I've mentioned before but we wanted emerald, booked the suits assuming they'd have emerald and they don't so we went for the next closest thing which was hunter green..... which is nice, I have some shoes and just bought a dress today in it, but I don't want it for our wedding. It's too dark and not very me, especially for a summer wedding) I'm trying to convince my fiancé to agree to yellow and purple, I'd considered just yellow before as I love the colour and it's my son's favourite colour too, but we worried about things getting a bit lost, especially considering our venue has a very gold ballroom. But looking up different colour combinations online yellow and purple look stunning and we can have bouquets more like this

    download.jpg
    download.jpg

    as oppose to this

    $_12.JPG
    $_12.JPG

Don't get me wrong, I love the second one two, but I'm a brightly coloured person and I feel the green is a bit dull and a bit too formal for us

If he doesn't want yellow and purple then we'll have to decide on something else.

Although I think I've sold him on it as we've been texting about it and he said it pops.... then he asked if I'd want to go for purple or lilac and I said I prefer purple but I like lilac too so I'd leave it up to him and he said he was glad I said that, so I think he likes it. Will have to see what he says once he gets in from work.

    That doesn't help at all....

Maybe try thinking about what centre pieces you'll have and what sort of dresses you want your bridesmaids in... you might find that one of the colours suits your idea's more then the other. Although I just hope when you do choose the bridesmaid who wanted the other colour doesn't feel put out.

I prefer the dusky pink, ive seen some beautiful dresses in several different styles in this colour all of which are lovely. My one bridesmaid is my oh little sister who will be 16 when we get married and she loves the dusky pink colour. My other bridesmaid is my best friend so officially she is mu MOH and she said the dusky pink will make her look washed out(she hasn't even tried a dress in that colour yet) so im hoping with a bit of persuasion ill be able to convince her otherwise. I did think about trying to put the two colours together if it comes to it but im not sure it will work. x

Without sounding like a bridezilla here.... but it doesn't really matter if she feels washed out :/ I know that sounds horrible but your colour theme is a big part of your wedding... it's one thing going for a longer or shorter dress to make your bridesmaids feel more comfortable or not going strapless ect. but you need to pick the colour you like as at the end of the day it's the colour that will run through the rest of your day as well.

If she thinks it will make her washed out can she not have a spray tan before the wedding or just go a little heavier on the bronzer?

See if you can get her to try a dress on to see what she really thinks about it

That's what I didn't want to do sound like a bridezilla lol, but I think I may have to if it comes to it. My bridesmaid in her words (is possibly the oldest bridesmaid ever) she will be 60 when we marry and is very fair, grey hair pale skin. But she has been my friend for so long I couldnt not have her in that role.

Yeah me too, just need to find someone who can make them and decide whether I want fresh or artificial, I've heard they can't do the stalks in artificial... but some artificial websites show them, but then I've seen other sites that say they won't do the stalks as they snag on clothes.... wouldn't want my dress snagging.

Yeah, but what I mean is on those pictures the stalks are out with just a little ribbon around them. I think that looks really nice, but it looks like I'll have to go for them completely covered as I don't want our dresses to snag on the stalks if I go for artificial

I do think artificial seem to be the best bet.

They won't start to droop over a long day, you can keep them forever, you can get one's that look real, if anyone has allergies they won't effect them and they're cheaper then real.

I'm tempted to email a few companies to ask if they can do me something similar (I think I'll contact the one's that have mentioned the snagging so I know they won't give me the naked stalks) and how much? You could get some pics of what you want and send them? or just ask, some seem to only be able to do roses but I've seen some which can do almost anything by the looks of it.

Rebecca welcome enjoy looking at venues, don't feel behind ive only been engaged since October lol and I am an organised control freak so everything needs to be organised or I stress out. My cousins get smarried May 2015 and him and his fiancée have only booked the venue I am now stressing them out big time Donna is right we will want all the details lol.

Thefurture Mrshurren, get your BM to try on some dresses and see how she looks and what she thinks. I had my colour scheme picked before I picked my dress ive even got my centre pieces sorted Im easy tho as its just my sister being bridesmaid Its quite hard when they are decades apart to try and get something that suits them both have you thought about having them in different colours?

Donna I love those flowers but if I had to choose I refer the first one its more subtle (That's only my opinion tho and I don't know what everything else looks like). Its up to you if you want your flowers and BM to be the same or different The woman I was going to get artificial flowers from does stalks I cant decide if I want artificial or real as they are coming in roughly the same price for what Im looking for. You could always get them to cover the stalks fully with the coloured ribbon Id email a few places ill pop a link on your wall of a great place who was cheaper by far and her flowers look amazing.

Im not doing anything weddingy for awhile as ive got most things organised going to try on accessories on 10.4.14 with my dress on so I can see what goes well with the dress and how much it costs xx

Ooooo thanks for the link Elizabeth, will have a look :) I know we have ages yet but flowers is the next big thing on my list to sort (think other then dresses it's the only big thing I have left actually) might have to get my mum and bridesmaids opinions on the flowers as well..... although to be fair probably best waiting until all our outfits are sorted as well to see what will go best with them. (I know full well that's what my bridesmaids will say lol)

    Hi ElizabethF49,
I am really looking forward to this weekend! We are going to stay close to the new forest overnight...so making a bit more of an occasion of it. (plus throw in a little geocaching at the same time maybe) :-)

And I will definitely let you all know, as I think I said I have now narrowed it down to 6 out of the 20 that are open. :-)

Of course I don't mind Rebecca, you've just reminded me I need to look (trying to do a million things at once) busy looking at a jewellers called H.S as they're having a sale, lots of lovely gifts on there
