My dress shop are charging £145 for a finger tip length, and wouldn't budge on the price regardless of the £1300 I'd spent on my dress.
However, I have ordered an almost identical one off the bay for a mere £1.93 Bargain... Even if it turns out to be rubbish.
Feel like calling the dress store and asking them how they can justify it!!!

Mine was £10 from the bay and is fab, I felt the same as you, I just thought if it isn't any good I've not really lost anything. £1.93 is fantastic though...

Mine was £140 but I got a 10% discount on it. However, I'm having straps put on my dress and they're £75 each!

I'm not having a veil but I completely agree with you re prices. Not just veil prices but it seems to be no matter what the item, as soon as suppliers hear the word 'wedding' they take it as permission to hike up their prices! Hope your veil arrives soon.

I honestly couldn't believe the prices!
But I looked at other shops and they were the same, not much cheaper at the shows either.
Let's hope the good old bay was as good as it looked. I'd never have chanced the dress there though

I bought a veil from the bay for £15 and I actually sent it back because it looked cheap :/ I'm a bit put off by it now so hoping to find something reasonable next time I try my dress. They are a fortune though generally! X

et5y has some lovely handmade ones and really reasonable too....I got mine for £45 custom made and its gorgeous! Is a birdcage with a feather headpiece, looking at over £150 in the shops over here for it and this one is fab. Couldn't believe how much they charge for a bit of net curtain haha

I know my mouth dropped when I was told at dress shop that it was 140 for the veil they was trying me on. I can't justify it to myself how beautiful my dress is for 320!! How much intricacy on the dress and a bit of net with some added beads for 140? Crazy! !

Totally agree, veils are a ridiculous amount of money! I mean in all honesty if you dont wear them over your face for the ceremony, what do they actually do lol!!
Says me who's paid £90 for hers and not wearing it over her face :) lol xxx
CommentAuthorGemmaR81
I really don't know if I am having a veil or not yet. I suppose when I go and try dresses on I can see if I like them. I don't like thinks over my face, so like Amy said what would it actually do!!! xxx
CommentAuthorFranM76
I can't decide whether to wear a veil or not either! The cost might just be the deciding factor!!! I just think a bride looks more bridey with one lol xx

I think mine was about £45. If you do a search for wedding veils you find all sorts of sites that are far more reasonable than bridal shops. I suppose the shops think they can charge more because people will pay for the convenience of dealing with everything together.

I bought 2 off the bay (as I wasn't sure what length would look best), and they are both excellent, and very reasonably priced too

Based on a previous thread about veils I think its best to avoid veil3d1nbeau7y if you're going to look for a veil online. I would definitely look on the bay for one if I was going to have one - because of the detailing on my dress I think it would be too much.

I was really lucky with my veil. The shop I got my dress from hold monthly FB competitions, and I entered and won the veil comp! I was able to choose anyone I liked, so I've saved £86!! If I hadn't of won, I would have got mine from the Bay. I really don't understand why when the word 'wedding' is used, prices of all sorts of things soar! I am likely to sell my veil on after the wedding, so I will help someone who is on a budget xx

They wanted £100 in the dress shop for mine, i got it off the bay from China for 99p and its lush!

To be honest I feel the same about wedding dress shops in general. I reckon they put a massive mark up on dress prices and probably pay very little for the dresses direct from the designer. As an example my local bridal store had a dress which was £190 reduced from £1250 and it made me wonder how on earth they could sell it at that sale price if the origina cost was so high??!
Anyway, my veil came from ebay too (a Uk seller), was £8 and the quality was amazing.
