I think it a very smart idea to get all the rudimentary bits done..guest lists..table plans...they can be tweeked closer to the time..organising your Venue HAS to be the smartest move..go look early get the date!!!!

    Hi Niks85
I'm getting married in 29mths and ive already sorted the dress, which venue , registrar and at the end of the month ive set a date for the bridesmaids to get together to sort their dresses out, im awaiting sample dvd oh and ive got my cake sorted- with minnie and micky mouse on top ! Anyway ur not doing things too early i think its best to get started and find out how things are going to be done - as that way theres much less stress and sleepless worriful nights. get sorting and love the time u have to do it in as its going to fly by really quickly- quicker than u expect x

No such thing, as some of the others have said that way you get the things you want & can handle any little hiccoughs along the way too :)

I booked the venues in oct 09 and started the rest of it in january this year. I have gone as far as I can now. I need to send invites and await rsvps before I can do anything else. 3 months - not bad :)

We are getting married on 30th June 2012, and have already booked the venue. According to their diary, most of next summer is booked up already. We have already got the wedding dress and bridesmaids outfits, all still to be adjusted obv, picked the tartan for the kilts, found someone to make the cakes (egg free as I have an egg allergy) found someone to do the flowers (friend of my h2b) and someone to do the pics (again a friend of ours). To get the venue/date you want we found we needed to/were advised to book at least 18months in advance. Love Joanna x x x x

it's never to early... i have loads done too and i'm in the process of trying to get my dress made, that way all the big expenses are paid/ deposit paid or booked... :) All the smaller things can be bought each week so it dosn't seem like your spending as much... :)

no never too early, i have chosen everything that i want, just a case of buying it bit by bit, at least if you start early you can buy bits and pieces each month and you wont even notice you have bought them. its nice when you have the date and the venue booked, it all just seems so much easier then :)x

oh! no you can never plan to early, think about all that expense you need to break it down into manageable costs, once you have agreed your date and booked your venue, you can buy and pay off little pieces at a time, just remeber to buy wedding insurance too!!!!, l started planning over a year ago and paid for bits and pieces as l went, l ordered my dress in Nov and it won't arrive from america for another few months!!!! ok, so the house is cluttered with wedding stuff, but it's all here and it's all paid for, we won't have to pay for anything on our day(peace of mind), look how long it takes to get your RSVP back also we sent them out 6 months ago and we are still waiting on some coming back with the menu choices, so you go ahead and plan, l'm a bit worried about your friend though if she's getting married in june and hasn't planned or got her dress, god help her! hope she can pull that one together on time xx
