i was not going to have one, but now i am, what i was thinking of doing before was to just put camera's on the tables. and also have a laptop at the reception so that people with digital camera can upload pictures on my laptop. My cousin was going to be incharge of making sure it happens. i am still going to do the laptop upload one so i have alot of pictures to choose from.

Nutty I am, but purely cos my MoH offered her hubby (semi pro) ... but the idea I had before was to provide disposable cameras, or ask everyone for a set of the pics they take, that way you can choose your favourite from the entire guest book. x

I'm not sure we will be having a photographer, i dont think formal pictures would fit in with our day. Just hope our families will be taking loads of pictures, and we will put them all together.

H2b wants to take our pictures, he said he'll superimpose him on them afterwards. lol xx

we are not having a photographer mainly due to costing issues but also because im not really into having my picture taken, so we decided as the majority of people have digital cameras now we would just let them take natural pix of us and the day then go through them to choose ones to pop in an album, hopefully this will mean a more relaxed view of what happened rather than being told...... move your head this way, tilt it slightly more to the left...........
god cant imagine anything worse lol

We are having a friend do ours...he has done a few weddings but mainly does reportage style ones, which I prefer to the traditional line up (although we will be having the bare minimum of those), and he has won a few competitions for those so I am very excited!! x

To be honest I really didnt want a photographer - mainly due to the fact that I hate photos of my self and I hate having photos taken, but uv got to have something to remind you of the day, and out of a video or photos I would rather have photos, so were not having a video done - thankgod as I hate being recorded too, but are having a photographer :-) x

Our photographer's are really good, they're a couple, and they both come out, it's about £1,350 for the day and they take about 750 photos, they're all natural, but they can edit, airbrush and remove bits you dont like. They capture loads of angles and they even jump about, roll around on the floor, anything, to capture a great image of you! :) Plus you get loads of stuff in the package! x

No way - It's one day that we WANT to have memories and photographic evidence of so we HAD to have a photographer.

    We've got him - he's paid for and I'm happy! :)

[declaration of interest - I'm a wedding photographer]

While I quite understand not everyone wants photos, here's the thing, your family will want photos, and I think in years to come so will you.

If you're thinking of using disposable cameras - forget it - you'll be lucky to get 10 decent shots (I know I've seen so many full sets from disposables).

Funnily enough, I think the want everyone thinks they don't want are the big formal shots, yet oddly they are the ones that are also most important in the years to come.

still not convinced Simon.......... its going to be a stressful enough day without having the added stress of someone telling me how to stand and which direction to look......... i'll stick to just going through shots that people have taken on their digi cams and have the ones i really like printed!! :-)

my SIL had disposables and they were rubbish if anything you will look worse in them. A good photographer will take photos at a flattering angle and yes to airbrushing! it costs but if you have the money do it you will want memorys! x

My oh doesn't want a photographer. Well I say he doesn't, he says he cannot justify the cost. I have explained it's not just the few hours they spend with us but also the editing afterwards but he's having none of it. I really want a photographer as I regret not having a professional photo of when I graduated. Can anyone think of how I can compromise on this?? We are only havinh 4 guests so I cant go down he disposable cameras on the table route! I also want my nan and his mum dad and sister to enjoy themselves. TIA x

Everybody has mobilephones and tablets these days. You could use an app that collates everybodies.photos.of the day. There are bound to be some really good ones especially after the ceremony.
I have used a studebt from the local.uni on a photography course. Its £100 for her to be there for two hours and have them all put on a usb stick and have given her permission to use the photos in her portfolio.... You could look at that option as well @mrsTHurley

I think just putting a sign up in your venue asking people to use a dpecial hashtag when they upload to inst@gr@m is. Popular thing at the moment as well.

Take a look at W3dp1c5 - your guests can upload their photos onto your page.
I would still have a professional photographer though - although saying that - our photographer is a friend of ours who is semi professional, so hopefully we will get the best of the photos at a fraction of the cost

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

You know I had a hard time justifying the cost of photographers/right to images etc beforehand. Our package came with a basic number of photos but on the day there was another photographer doing 'lifestyle' ie natural pics and they were so good, better than the posed ones and I'm so glad we paid the extra for her photos too. It sounds cliche but you only do it once and they really know what they are doing to get the best out of you and really nice shots.

I am happy to pay the money. It's my oh I'm struggling to convince! He doesn't understand how much time and effort away from the camera that is done, no matter what I tell him. As we are having a couple of guests, he thinks that they can take the photos. I would really like a photo of all of us together as well.

He keeps saying we're "saving money for our honeymoon" everything I bring it up!

We didn't hire a professional photographer. We did have 2 friends who were interested in taking their photography to professional levels, building their portfolios, and were experienced.
