Hi all ive decided to make my own veil as the ones I like are stupid prices and as you all know I would rather D.I.Y to save the pennies. Ive ordered my tulle 3m x 3m for 99p with £2.25 postage, 20 ab clear crystal teardrops for £1.98 fine silver thread for £1.49 and already have the comb which was coppers so roughly £7 which isnt bad but I want to do a scalloped edge and all the tutorials I have watched are round edge I think ive got the idea how the scalloped edge is done but Im just wondering if anyone has done there own and has any advice xx

I had mine made from a lady off the Bay of E and it only cost £7.
Mine is shoulder length with crystals.

Well, the only way I can think of to do a scalloped edge is to cut a big circle, fold it up so you have a tear drop shape then cut the edge of it. Use a cup or something for the round shape??
Then when you unfold it you should have a scalloped edge??
    Does this make sense??

I might have a look on the bay, I've fell in love with a full length veil with diamantes in and sometimes feel buying one off the bay won't match up, the one I tried was when I tried my dress in the shop x

I made my veil, finished this week. Apart from spending ages measuring and working out the curve I wanted, the thing that took a long time was hand stitching sheer ribbon around the edge. A waist length veil with shoulder length over the face and a normal width has about 5m of edge, so doing it carefully is a long job.

thank you alex my tulle just came today so done a dummy run cutting it and what a nightmare the circles arnt all exactly the same (due to me being impatient and cutting more then 1 layer at a time) but to be honest its not bad so may just edge it as the thread is proving a nightmare to do by hand and I dont have a machine x

I haven't made mine personally but my mums made mine and I'm probably biased but it looks amazing just like the ones I liked in the shop minus the pricey price tag!!
It comes down to my bum and has swarvoski droplet crystals on the edges and crystals dotted over it and along the comb.
She said it wasn't to hard to do :-)

Kel it wasnt too hard hun I wanted scalloped edge which was the hardest part but if your wanting a full length straight veil it isnt too hard theres vids on tube of u hun its the detail round the edging that can be tricky but if you know someone with a sewing machine it shouldnt be a problem hun xx

Mrs2be your veil is lovely hun I just used my hotfix tool to add mine but you can get iron on crystals too hun you can get around 200-300 for 99p off the bay xx

Thank you ladies im chuffed to bits with mine and cant believe how much they wanted for them in the bridal shop x

When mi old lady made mine it looked amazingly easy! (not that i could do it .. i more take car to bits than make pretty things) Back of the comb came off and she just threaded a roundish piece of net through it and popped comb back together, the edging took forever to sew on, Im going to look into hotfix brilly! Seen alot of people are using them xx Looks exactly the same as the one in the bridal shop for 50 quid less!
