I've still got to book the photographer and wedding hair/make up. Hoping to sort out my dress soon. I can't sort my bridesmaid dresses out quite yet as oh little sister is one of my bridesmaids and she is 14 still growing but also has anorexia so I don't know what size she will be in 17 months time. For the main things sorted, venue, registrar, venue dresser etc x

Getting married in St. John's church in Woodbridge then reception at Hungarian hall, so excited... Dress shopping was so much fun although really tiring... My best tip would be to eat before you go or else you will be starved by the time you
Finish... Also good underwear, you will be standing in just that for most of the time :p where are you thinking of looking for the dress?

Can't think of anywhere particularly to avoid, but make sure you don't feel pressured into buying anything. I dragged my mother off for coffee several times so that I could go away and think about each of te dresses as I don't think it matters where you go you will always find some beautiful dresses... I went to just a day in Ipswich and Lavinia (one beneath fire and ice nightclub) in Ipswich, but I found mine in a little shop in Stradbrooke, which is out in the countryside. Shops called Lavander and Jude, the ladies were so friendly in there but the dress said it all for me :) also try absolutely everything on that you can, all different styles and colours. My mum pulled out some that I wouldn't have dreamed of trying on that looked amazing once I had out them on and the styles I originally liked once I put them on I hated them.... You just can't tell :) also take as many of your friends/family as you can that you can really trust to give you a completely honest opinion, and tell them you want them to say if they don't think a dress is quite right :) does that help at all??? Not sure if Iv just rambled utter rubbish there or not :) sorry for the slow reply, been a crazy week at work and been trying to sort all stuff wedding today which has been making me feel like I'm a dog chasing my tail!!! Although booked the car transport for me and my dad and then me and OH this morning which has made me feel a little bit calmer :) Howz all yours going?

That's great thanks. I have all the main things booked and with 16 months to go I feel quite happy with where I'm at. Just wish I could get my bridesmaid dresses so I can sort my colour theme out but I can't do that yet which is a little annoying x

You sound like your doing amazingly well, and this time last year I was pretty much in te same position. Now it just the smaller bits to sort and all the finer details, and as you cross one off the list several more things are added, but il get there :) what colours do you want to have/are thinking about? How many bridesmaids you having? X

    Hi Michelle,

What sort of budget are you looking At for your venue, if you know that then you can narrow it down.I had a look at several venues some charging as little as £1000 to around £8000. I found because I wanted everything under one roof and also accommodation on site for 40 plus guests I was restricted to where I could marry.

Kim, that sounds beautiful :) are both your girls similar colourings or completely the opposite? I was really lucky in that both of mine are dark hair with relatively tanned skin and have similar body shapes albeit a couple of sizes apart :) what sort of dress do you want them to wear do you think?

Hey Michelle, congratulations and good luck with the planning :) I'm having my reception in Hungarian Hall, which is in Pettistree near Ufford, bout 7mins drive from Woodbridge. They also have a beautiful ceremony room there, and doesn't cost the earth. They don't have set caterers or anything but they give you loads of recommendations, so that might be worth a look. As Kim said have a budget and any specific requirements in mind and then you can narrow down the list :)

    Hi Clare,

Both my bridesmaids are slim, I'm going to look like a heffer next to them my best friend is a size 10 and my oh sister is currently just touching a small size 6 although we are hoping her anorexia improves so may be an 8. They are poles apart in everything keighley(oh sister) has dark brown long hair, tanned skin and brown eyes and carol ( best friend) has grey short hair very pale and blue eyes. Only thing in common is there height which with Keighleys age is likely to change. X

I have requested some brochures and been to the Wherstead fair the other week. I spoke to someone from Hungarian Hall which does look good. Yeah the budget is something we have to work out. Made a rough list of potential guests to get an idea as alot of places charge per head which is where it can get expensive! Have told OH that would like venue booked by end of April so we can relax and enjoy the rest of the planning knowing the date and venue are confirmed.

Blimy Kim, sounds like your gonna have fun getting those two in dresses... Do you want them in the same dress, or do you mind them being different? All I can suggest is drag them both shopping and get them to try on everything in the colour you want, then Hopefuly something will suit them both :/ and you are gonna look stunning on the day and your gonna completely outshine everyone whatever your size :) I hope your sisters health improves though.

Michelle, I know exactly what you mean, I wanted to get my venue booked asap as then I knew everything else would come together and it would make booking other stuff much easier. It was the second thing I had sorted, the dress was the first, not that is planned to buy the dress so early but I found it and couldn't say no... What I did with the venues was get all the info I could for each venue and wrote it all down on a massive sheet of paper then compared everything and crossed off the ones which we decided against for one reason or another then we talked to the remaining ones and went to look around :)

Well I dragged moh around the shops on Tuesday, just to see what colour suited her best, and it looks like purple, she looked beautiful in that colour. Kiwi(that's oh sisters nickname) always wears purple as that's her fave colour so I know it will suit her so my colour has been chosen for me. I don't mind if the dresses are identical as long as they are long length.

I also tried a dress on and fell in love with it, I never intended on even trying one on! Only problem is its double my budget. Cos I'm having to keep costs down it would mean I would either have to not have bridesmaids and cake or venue decoration and I can't do away with either of them :( so I'm now hunting around trying to find a 2nd hand/ ex display or someone who can make it for me.

I also did what you did with the venues. I had all the pros and cons wrote down, total costings etc for each one. Some of the venues I looked at seemed a really good deal until I looked more into the additional charges, eg I only wanted 40 guests for wedding and wedding breakfast and they would charge a penalty as such if you didn't have their recommended 50/60/70 guests.

    X

Purple is a beautiful colour, and you can always mix it in with blush/dusky pink which would look completely stunning :)

Its always the way with dresses, find you that you dont expect or at a time when it just isnt possible to buy it. Did you manage to get a photo of it or sketch it out cause it might be a good idea to try and get someone to make it for you then you can also change any bits that would make it more you as well.....

Sorry that its taken me so long to reply, Iv been doing lots of work and also filling the gap with trying to sort out my wedding... we are now under 5 months away and its all gotten very real very quickly, but also very exciting! We have just sent out all our invites and now trying to catch up with all the other bits we need to sort... My h2b is designing our rings as we know a jewelar who is happy to help us make our rings for a discount, which is really exciting :) also trying to sort out songs at the ceremony and stuff, it seems like all my time is being taken up with deciding the little things which i didnt realise needed to be sorted....

Howz all your planning going thefuture:Mrs_Hurren?

Hi ladies, sorry for my late reply. Have only just started using the website since upgrading my membership. Sounds like you have all been busy with your plans.
At the moment we have booked church, which is Sproughton All Saints, booked the reception venue which is The a Tithe Barn Sproughton. We're going rustic! Have booked disco and chair covers/chairs. I won't need to hire a photographer as I'm a photography degree student, so have a few friends that will do that for me. My big thing I want to really get sorted next is catering!

Well I booked my honeymoon today. I needed to do something to cheer me up and even though we said we couldn't have one as we are paying for the whole wedding ourselves we have decided to scrimp on general living for the next year to allow us to have one.

We are going to Alcudia, maybe not everyone's honeymoon choice but perfect for us.

Had a pants few weeks....my Nan died 3 weeks ago and her funeral isn't until next Fri, then on Tue someone who has been like a 2nd Dad to me for 15 years died. ;,(
(Sorry for making a cheerful page depressing)

Glad to see your plans are coming together :) xx
