hi, as were going abroad, and just having a reception in a nice local pub, was doing the catering myself, and seem to be stuck on serving platters for the buffet table. i want it nice, and didnt want any tin foil platters with cling film, as il have to faf trying not to smuging cheesecake etc, i have seen like big plastic trays with lids that look good, as even tho there tacky plastic you can put the food straight onto it after preparing and just transport it and lift the lid just before opening the buffet room, they are just disposable but are about £6 ea. is this a decent price? just wondered if you were doing buffet and how you were serving it? thanks so much for any help, really appreciate it x

best thing to do to stop the cheesecake smushing etc is to get some toothpicks and put them in the cake & place what ever your using for cover to stop it smushing, your best bet aswell is looking at local cash & carries, costco do their own sandwich platters for £18 etc

We are doing our own buffet and I have been buying bone china serving plates and cake stands for some of it as we are having an afternoon tea party reception. But for the rest we will probably get silver foil trays but decorate them with vintage looking doilies. Would have loved to have it all bone china but too pricey so hoping it will still look pretty with a mix. xx

sounds silly but them platters your going on about are used by the likes of pumpernickles etc, do you know anyone that works for a company that order lunch in for board meeting etc.. as i know in my h2b work they have meetings where they order lunch in and they come on them trays .. they then get washed up and put on the top of the cup cupboard... where they are collected until someone can be bothered to bin them
maybe its worth while asking round friends and family to see if anyone works anywhere that has lunches delivered for meetings etc and ask them to bring them once finsihed with for you???
