You could always do a couple of trial runs Emma :)

I would be up for making our cake if it wasn't a naked cake.. because means it would need to made the evening before and I don't want to be stressing about that so close to the wedding day haha.

I've had a quote of £225 for a naked cake to serve 90 people this morning which includes the delivery and set up fee. Think I want cupcakes as well now though, so might have a 2 tier cake serving 45ish people and make up the numbers with cupcakes (still naked style). x

Originally planned for May 2016, now have a provisional date in June - from what I gather the venue we're going with already had a booking for the date we wanted - but we're still getting our summer wedding, and actually I prefer our new date; it's close to the Summer Solstice, which I revere as a pagan so I will have double the reason to celebrate in future (or can at least stretch out my "festivities", lol)!

After last year's slow pace, everything seems to be moving quickly now; I'm a little nervous (okay, a lot)!

    Hi Sophie

I'm getting married June 2016 and I have booked the venue, registrar, photographer, harpist, magician and DJ. I have my shoes (because I fell in love with them not because I actually wanted to buy them so early!) and all 4 of my bridesmaids dresses. OH and I also have our wedding rings. We've ordered all the stuff for our DIY invitations and favours, so just need to get making those nearer the time.

I've decided on flowers (I think).. also making those myself so just need to buy the bits and have a play. We've decided on what cake we want, just need to get a few quotes and now and decide who to go with. We have pretty much decided on everything we want now, it's just a case of spreading the cost and booking things/paying for things as we go along :)

As for OH being involved.. my OH has been fantastic and has an opinion about everything. He has been heavily involved and gets upset if I am looking at something wedding-related without him! A lot of men seem to lack excitement though until it gets a lot closer to the day, I don't think this is uncommon! x

It's so nice reading what everyone has/is doing. It's not that h2b isn't involved he just thinks we have plenty of time, I am to impulsive sometimes but I have been getting quotes for things just so we know were we stand etc and I said to him that if we get something every month then we aren't going to end up paying for everything all at once if that makes sense and I am trying to save money my save the date cards for example the website give you 20 free I need 40 so only paying for half of them :-)! What is everyone's colour scheme?? Zxx

Yeah I think it's more a "woman thing" to be that organised and think about everything in advance! Although my OH is greatly involved with the planning, if left to his own devices I bet everything would be left until the last minute and everything would need to paid all at once lol.

My colour scheme is pastels.. I have adult bridesmaids in mint green, baby blue, lilac and peach and 1 flower girl in lemon :) with a 'country garden/rustic/vintage' kind of feel (so quite laid back)!! Have you thought about yours? x

I am doing the same Sophie buying bits each month now because its all the little things that really add up and id rather not buy them all at once and spread the cost.

Our colour scheme is silver/grey and touch of sparkle too, what about yours? Xx

Haha that sounds like mine yes I think so I don't see the harm in being organised esp the little things! I was thinking light pinks and purples. I have 4 bridesmaids and one flower girl i have been looking at dresses for them haven't seen anything I have fallen in love with yet. Has anyone sent there save the dates yet? Xx

Definitely better to be organised and spread the cost as much as possible. I know it's do-able planning a wedding in a short space of time but I know I would majorly panic if I didn't feel I was on top of everything! Good luck with your bridesmaid dress hunt :) pastels seem to be quite 'in' at the minute so I'm sure you'll find something. Do you want to buy from a physical shop or have you thought about ordering online? There are a few 'China' sites that have fab dresses in a wide choice of colours, but it depends if you want to take the risk!

We decided not to send save the dates as our wedding will be quite intimate with just close family and friends, so everyone knows the date already! Decided it would just be a waste of money. If we were to send save the dates we would probably have sent them around now x

Yep I agree I thought I was going mad when he was saying I didn't need to do this and that but before we know it next year will be here and I won't have done a thing. Well I did order them from a shop they were lovely but unfortunately just a little short on one of my bridesmaids.so I am back to square one, I am not sure about ordering from china I have seen some lovely dresses but just not sure if I can trust it! Well We have about 70 coming to the day and some have to travel and it's the summer holidays so think we are safer sending them. I was thinking maybe June I just don't want to send them early and they either get lost or shoved in the back of a drawer. Xx

I just booked the registrar today! felt so exciting speaking to them and so real but now I know what I need to know about all that as I was clueless!

I was going to be sending save the dates anyways and our venue actually provided them so we have used them as its saving us money. I have given mine to both our family's so far and close friends I need to get the rest out but without having guest lists finalised im not 100% on who else to hand them to at the moment as I would hate to change my mind and give someone false hope of an invite.

We have had to be brutal with out guest list as he has tons of cousins who all have children so we have decided to just invite them all to the night thing minus the kids. Xxx

    Hi Sophie

I'm the one with the big family but still its not to large, I don't have to many kids to worry about luckily and will have some there all day then others will be invited in the evening, people just need to realise that its your day and not there's and most will be ok with that but there will always be one!

I have said to my fiancé we are doing this ourselves, so we will do what we want, if people don't like it then that's tough for them, need to be tough with certain people but so far I've not had any issues hoping it continues.

Hi. We have about 50 family and 20 close friends. Exactly we are getting no help from anyone so we are doing it our way! No neither have we YET. I would honestly love to invite everyone to day but we have in total 150 day and night so just can't do it. I am having some kids there as I have two of my own and want them to have someone to play with as well! What are you doing for the kids? Xx

That's all we need to remember we work hard to make our day special and deserve to be picky lol

I have my stepson who will be 9 at the wedding and one of my bridesmaids kids will be there she has 2 and her son will be 8 at the wedding and friends with my stepson (her little girl is our flower girl too) she will be 3 and half by the wedding and I have another little one of around 3 and half going to the day ceremony too. My other bridesmaid has asked me not to invite the kids so she can enjoy it, so I said that's fine by me and she has 4 kids. We may have another one or two for daytime but not decided yet.

For the kids I am doing a sweetie table anyways so that will be partly for them too and will have some sort of activity pack for them, actually considering picking up a cheap kids table and chairs for the 2 wee ones so they can make as much mess as they like colouring in etc.

I'm so glad we won't have many kids at our wedding so don't have to worry so much about keeping them entertained! My worst nightmare would be kids running around everywhere causing havoc haha.. not sure I could bite my tongue and would just end up telling them off hehe.

We will have my flower girl who will be 2 years and almost 3 months, my step brother's babba who hasn't been born yet but will be 15 months and my step brother's girlfriends' son who will be 8 or 9. Oh and OH's cousin has a baby who I think will be about 2 by the time of the wedding so she might want to play with my flower girl :) think that is it though..

I have 2 cousins who will be roughly 7 and 3 but not even sure if I am inviting them yet and my uncle/auntie yet. I have never even met the youngest :/

Like you Flossie im glad also I wouldn't like kids running about screaming lol but the important ones will be there, we don't actually have that many people coming who have who have kids sonot really much for us to worry about. My bridesmaid has her MIL on stand by to collect the kids so they will be there for most of the day but away at night for herself and her husband to enjoy the night.

Booked our wedding for 30 July 2016 early this year. Wish it could have been sooner but my work keeps me Stateside until early next year. We planned for 2016 mainly bec of my work contract and family and friends that would be travelling from abroad and it is quite hard planning a wedding when you are not physically there to meet with suppliers.

This is my first time back here after a hiatus from last year. Church requirements are making me anxious and down.
