No updates on wedding atm just awaiting confirmation from venue of our new date and when I informed registrar they have now asked for a £50 booking deposit to secure our date lol which is understandable due to them giving us the first two free!

Hi, I'm a newbie to all this.
We got engaged in January this year while on holiday in Thailand - Our wedding date is 9th July 2016 & we have just booked our venue :-) really glad to see others have to, people tend to look at us a bit funny when we say when the wedding is in 2016! I am very excited, so much to organise and plan. I am pleased I have started early, would prefer to secure everything we want now than leave it too late! Wow nearly 4 months since I was last on here, Update - My little boy was born 5 weeks early and is now nearly 8 weeks old! After a lot of stuff going on with family things are more settled and after a lengthy discussion we have changed our date one last time and cancelled our old venue (previous post explains) we are set to start a new with our wedding planning and I am more excited now than I have in a long time as I know that once I marry my wonderful H2b I know my life is complete, I have been blessed with two amazing children a girl and a boy and this wedding just cements it all and we'll be a proper family unit and I will have same surname as our children xx

Nope you don't have to pay anything until nearer to your wedding date. You have to fill a form out (looks a bit like the big birth certificate you get when you're born) and she told us there and then if the date was available. She also asked what time we wanted to get married and we chose 3pm. She gave us a pack on church weddings with prices etc in x

Hi were getting married on 16/07/2016 and were trying to spread the cost. So far we have paid deposits for the venue, registrar, Dj, hair and make-up and photographer. We have also started buying favours and decorations and invites are done. At the moment I am trying to book flowers and a cake maker then I can chill for a bit and get some money saved.

Don't think I've posted here yet! I am getting married 14/05/2016 on a tight budget. So far we have booked the venue, photographer and DJ. I have found my flowers and provisionally booked just need MIL to hurry up and pay the deposit lol. My cake is being made by an old school friend, I have bought my shoes and found the dress I want, won't be ordering that until at least Jan though. I have started buying a few things like card for DIY invites, guestbook and post box for cards. I feel like I have to do everything right now but I just keep telling myself to stop and get Christmas out of the way first!

We are getting married on the 18th June 2016. We have booked our venue (exclusive use of a country house and gardens), registrar, DJ, harpist, photographer and magician. We have discussed/arranged transport (hoping to borrow the vw camper that the dad of one of my bridesmaids owns, not necessarily for travelling but just for the photos mainly!). I have bought my shoes, we've ordered stuff for our favours and our invitations and are going to make these ourselves in the new year.
We have pretty much decided on everything now. We have a colour scheme, we know what suits OH and the groomsmen will be wearing, we know what kind of cake we want, what gifts we want to get the wedding party, what bridesmaids dresses I want for the girls, roughly what rings we want, what centre pieces we want, the flowers, etc. It's just a case of putting things into priority order and spreading the cost now. In the new year it will be all systems go!
I have made a spreadsheet to keep us on track. It has a column for any deposits paid, the remaining balance on each individual element and a tick box once it has been paid off completely. I have also added a notes column so I can make note of any suppliers/websites I have found and I can go back and check them out!
I will start wedding dress shopping around May/June time next year. Hoping to lose a bit of weight first :)

We're planning on getting married July 2016 (hopefully the 15th, don't know why but I'm stuck on that date). Nothing is booked yet, we're waiting until after we've moved into our new house, which should happen (fingers crossed) early January :)
All we really know right now is our colour scheme, although I sort of know what venue I want, we just both need to go see it together. As soon as this house is sorted, I am making sure we get everything planned, booked and made ASAP! xx

Definitely not too soon to start planning and booking things!!! We're getting married 18th June 2016 and have booked our Venue as we fell in love with it the second we saw it...The registrar as times get booked up so early!! and our Photographer as they get booked up years in advance also!! We're currently in the process of booking our band for the evening reception but thats all I'm doing at the moment as i feel that the rest can wait until a bit later on next year. I have tried on a dress - which i absolutely LOVED but still want to try on a few more just incase! You never know! xx

I am on a budget too and to keep costs down we have decided to cut out the wedding breakfast and get married later in the day so that we can just have the evening reception, in a lot of venues the price will be much cheaper doing it this way.
I don't know anywhere in derby but d3b3nh@ms have lots of really nice cheap suits, have you tried there?
