Wedding Forum - Any May 2016 Weddings?...

Hello Ladies,

Firstly let me say a mahoooshive *** CONGRATS *** to all us 2016 Brides. Just wondering where everyone is at the moment? My venue is booked and deposit is paid, sweet table is booked, flowers are booked, band is confirmed! Arrrgghhhh so exciting :D My main thing I'm really struggling with is bridesmaid dresses!!! Apparently it would seem I have an awkward colour scheme :-/ Been thinking about just getting them made - but where to start?

Well, I'm currently waiting to hear back from the venue J and I want as to whether or not we can have the date we want (we're planning for the Spring Bank Holiday - the end of May one).

Have had some help and tips from a good fb friend who had a similar theme/feel to her wedding which was just last week - she's even recommended the photographer they used as he's really good, especially for those on a tight budget!

I've been emailing and texting my dad like crazy this last week, hopefully going to look at dresses with him and my step-dad in September when I visit - although I know the dress I really want, I want to try on some more "modern" stuff; and besides, I'm only planning to do this once, so might as well go all out and do everything! :P - which has led to a stream of jokes from him because I was such a tomboy growing up and it's only been since I first started going out with J that I've developed any real femininity, apparently!

Beyond that, fmil & I have been watching a lot of the wedding-y programmes on TV - thank goodness for v+! - and I've been grabbing up every wedding mag and googling every local fayre I can think of to get info and ideas; some days I actually feel lucky that I don't have a job right now, as I wouldn't know where or how to find the time to plan otherwise, and I've got almost 2 years!

Oh my MrsThomson2B and i thought i was being really organised!! lol I've got so far - the venue, the flowers, the band, the sweet table, centre pieces (but i'm more then likely going to change my mind!! lol)

MagpieBride I've never been a girly girl but my parents and my fiance are doing nothing but taking the micky out of my girli-ness!! lol I'm also watching any wedding progrmaes - dont tell the bride, four weddings and even 4 weddings US! - they dont have do some crazy and weird things!! lol xx

Me and H2B are looking at getting married early may 2016, but we have only just started planning. We've been to 4 venues so far, and I've booked to go to the national wedding fayre in London (Oct) with my other friend who is getting married summer 2016.
Have lots of ideas and our cake is sorted as I'm designing it and my mum is making it, but we are only going to book venue and registra this year and will leave everything else until next year. Good luck with your planning ladies. x

Kayleigh - I have a turquoise colour scheme, is that thesaurus your aqua blue or a different shade altogether? We have had a little bit if difficulty with ours because everyone's described turquoise as different shades lol. I didn't have a problem getting my bridesmaids dresses though, the closest thing to ours is called 'Turkish blue' by the dress brand I've gone for.

My bridesmaids dresses are by romantica of Devon. L We got them from a bridal shop so unfortunately are not that cheap at £180 each. Are you wanting to go high sheet or willing to get them ordered in? The easy part has been buying ribbon though, so I'm confident that we have the exact same colour ribbon going around the stems of the BMs flowers, favour boxes and invites and I took the roll with me for the colour code. It's doable! Xx

There were only two blues close for our sashes for us to choose from but we went with organza I think as its more vibrant, and I had a sample posted and took it BM dress shopping! Good tip if you can get one. I asked my BMs if they would mind getting their own shoes and pay for their hair trial (less than £50 for the both of them) As I'm paying for their dresses, jewellery which I'm giving as gifts along with the rest and hair and makeup.

we can only book in the Registrar 12 months to the date before the wedding - which is really annoying!!! lmao!!! Imogen we also fell in love with the first proper venue we saw and low and behold we booked it 3 weeks later lol!!

I've got an organza sash from bay of the e and i'm liking that colour but other things ive seen havent always been in the flesh sorta speak theres a few dresses online then theres the whole - will the colour match lol! ah well got plenty of time to do that plus i dont know what size the BM will be (1's preggers and 1's dieting - 1's a fitness freak!!) haha xx

Hey ladies,

I'm getting married on 14th May 2016 :) so excited. We got engaged 13th May 2013 so its been a long wait! I think we've done most things although I keep thinking I must have forgotten something!!! xxx

Yesterday was our 1 year countdown!! :D
Starting to get more excited now, but trying to get the photographer sorted at mo.

Have uploaded some photos of our venue with examples of décor so I can get an idea of what is possible.
