We are having 5 bm's and have ordered their dresses from a bridal store. They have quoted that alterations will cost between £60- £100 per dress. Does that seem excessive? x

£190 each given there was 5 of them, I am not keen to spend that on alterations lol but I don't know anyone else to the job and don't want them to be ruined. x

Yeah that's like having to buy another 2 dresses on top of what you've already bought!
What exactly needs doing to them?

They are all small girls so will need the length brought up I would assume, after that I am not sure, they only had a 14 in the store, 2 are 8's, 1 a 12 and 2 are a 14. The girls with the 14 it fitted like a glove but both are hoping to lose weight so may need taken in etc. I thought it was a bit expensive but unsure how to find some one else, i don't like just going off internet x

It does seem a lot of money, I only paid £80 for my dress.

Do you know anyone who is that way inclined who could possibly recommend a place?
There's got to be a few around, you could check reviews and go and see them before committing?

I live in Manchester so there is lots around but I am from NI so it's not my home town and none have been personally recommended to me. I may ask MIL she might know of some where. Thanks x

I would definitely have a search around for some more quotes. Does seem a bit excessive. Good luck finding some alternatives x

You'll be better off looking around, I'm sure plenty of places will do it for cheaper without loosing any professional quality xoxo

It depends on how much needs doing. I think for two bridesmaids and myself I paid about £150, but mine needed taking in a lot and one bridesmaid dress needed letting out. Plus they all needed shortening and the bridesmaid dresses needed straps attached to them.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I was quoted around £35 per dress to take it up in length and alter the side seams. This was a very basic quote and she said it would depend if there was any detailing etc around the alterations, but what you've been quoted does sound a bit excessive.
