How much did you have to pay for your affidavit? Will I have to pay for the solicitors time aswell as the affidavit itself?

If you need a solicitor to draft it you will have to pay them, but usually the country have standard wordings you need. Then if you swear it in front of a solicitor its about£5.00 for each single document and £2.50 foe exhibits.

hmmm may send a email to my planner abroad and travel agency as i mentioned just gotta send birth certificate, passport etc to milton keynes and then send the certificate from that along with documents to asutria

A solicitor phoned me back today & she thinks they charge £100 + vat for both of us (affidavits and their time) Not too bad x

Im not sure, possibly. I am waiting for an email from them to confirm the exact cost, as the woman i spoke to yesterday wasnt exactly sure. But i have a day off today so i might ring around a few places :) x

That seems expensive, have you asked them to draft it for you. Just to swear and affidavit should be £5 each plus £2.50 for each exhibit. I would ask around if I were you.

my friend is a solicitor thats definately too much. She told me the above prices, you dont need an appointment in most solicitors, just turn up and ask the price and ask them to sign. £100 plus is if you need them to draft it or you need advice or a notary. Seems way over the odds to me. Just go in anywhere...

i havent been told once i need to get one. i have been told just to go to local council to get a certificate of non impediment and then that has to be taken to milton keynes to be counter signed ( then sent of to austria as thats were we gettting married to be hung as notice)

Yes you do need an affidavit as it is also known as a statutory declaration. Doh!! I am such a nugget!
So after all that, they are the same thing & yes we do need one. Sorry lol x
