We fly out from Manchester to Malta next Tuesday morning - but h2b has just looked online and Mount Etna in Sicily started erupting at the weekend. I know Sicily is quite close to Malta so I was just wondering if any travel agents have heard anything about flights been delayed or cancelled yet?
I'm really hoping we manage to get there but just hope we don't get stranded over there either lol.

Mount etna is a very active volcano I doubt that it will affect your flights hun! On and off its been erupting most of this year :)
but just check with your airline before you head out to the airport :-)

Just been reading some more about it. Apparently there hasn't been much ash - and the ash that is around is at the moment blowing east so at least that's away from Malta.

Thats good then! Honestly I wouldnt stress too much about it! These things have been pooping for years and rarely stop air traffic! However more people have become aware of the problems faced as a result of Volcanic Ash since Eyjafjallajokull erupted 21st april last year!! Icelandic Volcano's Cause more problems for air traffic as most of them are covered by large icecaps and when the magma comes into contact thats when HUGE ash clouds tend to occur!
For the majority of time no-one needs to worry! So you can relax for now! It really shouldnt affect your holiday :-)
