We decided to get hitched abroad later this year because we thought it would be less stressful and we didn't want a 'formal' wedding we wanted something easy going, informal and relaxed in the sunshine! Oh how wrong could a girl be.
SIL2b and Sis were organising hen do, Sis and my mum didn't like most of the people on my list and made it known, so I had a complete bridezilla moment and told em to cancel it, that was 3 week's ago.
My dad has now informed me he's been and bought his suit for the wedding, uh the bridegroom hasn't even been to look or decided on his suit/attire yet, never mind colours etc.
I don't want to get my 'bridezilla' on but they way things are going I'm gonna erupt. Am I being out of order as I know people have paid a lot of money to come? Do people think they can just ride rough shod over your wedding plans and your just gonna accept it and not gonna get upset about it.
I feel like I should be happy and enjoying the planning but all I want to do is hide away, cry and wish we'd eloped.

I don't think traditionally the father of the bride does wear the same suit as the groom and the groomsmen.. maybe he didn't mean to be awkward or annoy you, he might have just not known that you wanted him in the same suit/same colour as your OH?

We have hired 7 suits and they are all the same - Groom (different waistcoat to stand out), 2 best men, the two dads, and the two brothers (ushers)

Can you just speak to your parents (or whoever it is more specifically) and let them know you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything/everyone? x

We hired matching suits too for hubby, both dads, best man and ushers.

Weddings are all different though. In a way I think it's sweet your dad went to buy his suit already, maybe he was excited.

Try not to get too stressed over it all, very few weddings go without some grief during the planning process with others unwittingly or sometimes selfishly scuppering plans or trying to impose their views on the happy couple.

Take a deep breath and decide what are the important things in the wedding and what can you live with if it's not 100% perfect. Sometimes it helps put things into perspective. Many commented how chilled relaxed and nin-bridezilla like I was when planning the wedding, little did they know I came on here to rant but I also decided that there are more important things than some of the things others were annoying me with.

Things have a way of working themselves out and a calm conversation with people if needed can help too.

I'm planning on having my dad and hubby to bes dad in same suits as groomsmen however maybe if yours is a destination wedding it may be a little more relaxed and not as formal? However I'm sure if you speak to your dad he would understand and maybe take the suit back or keep it for another occasion?

I am planning on having my dad in the same suit too.. I just know it's a personal thing and not necessarily 'tradition'. So maybe he just did not realise.

Flossie I thought it was traditional for the father of the bride to be in the same suit as the groomsmen?? We have everyone in the same suit including both dads.

Did you say anything to your dad at the time? I would have just said I thought your supposed to match the wedding party?
If you are going to say something do it soon so that he can return his suit if he chooses to.

My Dad will defiantly be in the same suit as my oh and his best man. I also thought it was tradition as that's what defines the "wedding party" from other guests.
I think you should speak to your Dad soon so he can possibly return his suit.

My dad will be wearing the same as my OH and the best man. I have always thought it was tradition to do this, my dad said it isn't but if I want him to wear the same he is happy to. I would speak to him as soon as possible so that he still has time to return his suit x

I think it's all just getting a bit too much for you, I think your dad may have not realised what you wanted, have a look at his suit, you may like it, it may be he has bought a more laid back suit for the laid back theme your choosing, as for family it's up to you to choose who cones to your hen, so you do what you want, it's up to them to be adult about it, after all it's your and your h2b day and it's up to you not everyone else.
