I thought it was about time I started one of these threads! I love reading everyone else's and getting ideas on what other brides are doing, so decided I'd do the same. Okay so Rui and I got engaged August 2013 after being together only a year! Seems to be a lot less than the majority of brides on here! But I guess when it's right you just know it :) I'm Scottish and Rui is Portuguese, although he's lived in Scotland for six years and I'm ashamed to say his English is probably better than mine- hahaha! I'm 21 and he's 24 so we'd really like to incorporate the fact that we're quite young into our wedding. We're both pretty mature for our age and have two incredibly supportive families behind us to make this wedding absolutely perfect, so we really couldn't be happier! :)
Anyway I'll do what most people do and write my to-do list!
Date chosen- 25th July 2015
Church booked- Getting married in our little local church, my God Mother is marrying us there as she's a Salvation Army Officer and lucky the Rev of the church has agreed to let her do it! Makes it a bit more personal I think! :)
Reception booked- A nearby golf club/restaurant on a golf course which has beautiful views on the course! Also get to ride on a golf buggy- YAY! Will upload photos in a bit!
Food/Drink- 100 people for the sit down meal and 120 for the evening and hog roast. Still trying to decide on drinks package too- why are weddings so expensive?!!!
Ceilidh Band- booked and deposit paid
Photographer- booked and deposit paid
Decorations- Mum's going crazy with her creative-ness and has already made about 6 different centre pieces so I can decide which one I like!! She's veeeery excited about this wedding! Chair covers also ordered and deposit paid
Save the dates- sent out!
Invitations- will be sent in Jan
MY DRESS- Chosen three weeks after getting engaged! Couldn't believe it but I love it just as much a year on :) Paid for in monthly installments and that's it all paid now :)
Cake- Ordered and deposit paid
Wedding party- Rui has two best men and one usher. I have four bridesmaids and four flowergirls. Flowergirl dresses have been bought and still looking out for bridesmaid dresses :) Coral and navy blue colour scheme
Cars- ordered and deposit paid
Flowers- No idea yet! Will sort nearer the time
Hair/make up- Deposit paid and booked for me, mum, and four oldest bridesmaids.
Well I think that's enough for now! Hope everyone else's wedding planning is coming along great and I would love to hear from other brides about their wedding ideas :D xxxxx

Okay so I decided to just pay the £20 to be a power user, couldn't wait any longer to upload the photos!! :)
This is where we're having our wedding reception. To be honest, this photo I found on the website really doesn't do it justice! but you get the idea :)
Our venue!
My Mum and Dad went to the venue a couple of weeks ago when there was a wedding on to see the layout of the place when it's all done up nicely. Here's a couple of photos they took of the inside-
I will have the mirrors taken down- don't like them!

Had a busy day researching everything I can for the wedding. Ive been looking up hotels/b&b's where I live since we'll have so many guests coming from far away. We have a bit of a problem though, we live in the Scottish Borders and there are no big brand hotels (not sure if I can say it so 'lodge of travel' or 'inn of premier' lol!) Theres nothing like that, only proper hotels which are pretty expensive :\ the cheapest ive managed to find is £50 a night for a twin room but most are about £70. We can't expect our guests coming from Portugal and down south (half my family are english) to pay that kind of money to stay any longer than a night, maybe two at a push!! Any ideas on cheap places to stay? I know that in cities it's easy to find places but we live in the middle of nowhere arrrrghhhh

Wow you are so organised. My oh thinks I'm planning too far in advance. Think I need to stick this post under his nose. X
Looks beautiful btw x

Thanks Kim! I wouldn't be so organised, but h2b and I are currently living in spain so I'm trying to organise everything from here which takes a lot longer than doing it in the uk, so I'm making sure I have plenty of time! :) x

You seem very organised hun, tbh 40/70 is not that much for a room my hotel is 90 per room per night, maybe if you find a nice reasonable one you can talk to them say you having a wedding and see if they will do a discount on a block booking?
Met June 2009 on my Birthday,Met again July 2009 and got
together, May 2010 Moved in,Jan 2011 got pregnant,
August 2011 Got our own place, 2011 Had our Baby Girl,
Dec 2011 Got engaged, July 2015 Getting married! Yay!

Yeah I agree but that is the most basic hotel, no luxury at all. Really simple :/ personally I think 90 is reasonable too but I know what my family are like and they won't agree! :( we've decided that a big group of my cousins are gonna camp in my garden to keep costs down, hahaha!

Haven't updated this in a long time! I think I'll add some photos of the new things we have organised
These are our flowergirl dresses. We're going to add navy blue ribbons round the waist to make them look a little bit more flower-girly :) they look pink in the photo but they're more peachy/coral

We have chosen our cake this is going to be spotty like the flowergirl dresses! The tiers, ivory with coral spots and navy ribbon round each tier. The bottom will be malteser flavour and the top two victoria sponge :)
We have also chosen our car which I am so so excited for!

my friends, who are twins are gonna be piping/drumming for us as I arrive at the church and then as we arrive at the venue :)
Trying to think of anything else I have missed!
Oh yes, I have convinced my Portuguese h2b to wear a kilt!! (he does actually want to, I promise! :) and he's getting really excited about it!
I think that's everyhting for now but will try to keep this a little bit more updated :)
