What is your opinion on postage for STDs, invites and RSVPs. Should I put 1st or 2nd class stamps on them. Worked out that I will need 122 stamps in total but some we can hand deliver which means we need 101 so can just buy a pack of 100.
What would you do / how did you send yours?

i'm doing second class, there really isnt that much difference between first and second these days anyway. Plus always good to save a few pound

I would definitely go with 2nd if you need to buy that many. They will still get there, might just be a day later than if you sent them first class, which in the grand scheme of things, isn't that much different xx

That's my thinking I have found a site I can get 1st class for £56.32 and 2nd class for £51.15 so I'm wondering if its worth jut paying the extra..

I agree with Nicole, it's only just over £5 but every little helps and they might not get there any quicker anyway x

I sent my invites out a couple of weeks ago, I put 2nd class on them (because they were cheaper). Posted them on the Saturday and they were delivered on the Monday, same as 1st class would have been.

I have to say I woukd say 1st, just as all our post at work goes 2nd class and sometimes takes 5 days to get to people!
CommentAuthorMrs T Hurley!
If you're sending them very soon, I would say 2nd class as your wedding is 15 months away so a few days here or there won't make a difference. Closer to the time you may want to consider 1st class.

Spoke to OH last night and he said that as we are spending £50 on them we should just spend £5 more and get the 1st class.
He also made the point that we budgeted £100 for the stamps for STDs and Invites so we will still be majorly under that.
Ordered them last night for delivery tomorrow.

i will be sending mine 2nd class, as the others have said it's not much difference in time really and that extra money i will save will be used elsewhere in the wedding

I will be delivering quite a bit of mine as a lot of family are close by. The rest I will be sending 2nd class. I don't think there's much difference in time these days

We did second class for our save the dates and they arrived at all different times over a period of 2 weeks, we found some people a little disappointed that other people had got theirs quite a bit before them. With that in mind we sent our invites first class and it was a difference of 12p per stamp but all arrived within 2 days xx

What exactly does a royal mail surveyor do?
CommentAuthorEmily17
I ended up getting my stamps for free :) I ordered first class and paid for special signed for delivery to arrive the next day and they didn't arrive so called the company and they refunded me. a few days later they were in with our standard post. no-one was home to sign for them so I checked tracking and they were still out for delivery.
Just proves what people were saying that 1st class isn't much different when a 1pm special delivery arrives 3 / 4 days after
