Information For The Burdock Ceilidh Band
We are a ceilidh dance band who play world tunes in a traditional Celtic style. Our mission is to get as many of your guests up dancing together having immense fun.
The Burdock Band provides a Ceilidh (pronounced Kayleigh) at your wedding. After the more sedate part of the day, we will get your guests up on their feet mingling and dancing together having an enormous amount of fun.
The social dances are drawn not only from the Scottish and Irish traditions, but also from across the seas. If you're unfamiliar with the dancing, then it's similar to barn dance. If you ever saw the film Titanic, then think 3rd class passengers having a fling below deck - that's what we're talking about! Possibly not on the tables though!
Each dance has a brief walk/talk through to ensure your guests have some idea of what to do when the music starts. We usually do 2 x 45 minute sets with a 45 minute break between, when it's common to serve a buffet.
We have our own special wedding 'blessing' dance where the couple sit and are entertained by their guests - enormous hilarity had by all!

Top Wedding Tips
Traditional dresses can be a challenge to dance in - we recommend you have a second outfit for the ceilidh.
Forewarn your guests as to what is coming up and how you expect them to forget their inhibitions and get involved!
Delegate all responsibilities to others; don't try to fit too much into your day, ensure you have a very efficient/effective MC in the shadows!
